aurelia loved the mountains.

there was nothing better than working out the path that would get you to your desired peak and then following that path with the sure feet of a mountain born.

aurelia had always, always been the adventurous one. of course, her brothers and sister came along - whether by choice or by their mother’s decision - but aurelia delighted in being the leader and making the plan and generally doing mildly to quite unsafe things. the mountainside was often the star of her mildly to quite unsafe plans. the best part was that her siblings, her dearly beloved siblings, rarely told anemone about any of her schemes - unless of course they ”almost died”.

aurelia always had it under control, and ”no mom, we didn’t almost die, okay? they’re over exaggerating. i mean, sure, i almost fell off the ledge but it was a really, really small one and i so would have been fine. i swear!”

she wasn’t always allowed on the steeper ledges anymore.

but what her mother didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her, right? and that’s why the girl was bounding her way upwards. aurelia paused to take a breath once she hit the sharper inclines, turning her head slightly to glance over her shoulder to make sure her siblings hadn’t followed her. grinning bright and mischievous, the girl resumed her way up the mountain, moving dainty paws with purpose now.

as she made her way, steady and sure, towards the peak that had caught her eye a few days previous, aurelia’s thoughts strayed. her brothers had always been curious about who their dad was and where he’d gone too. their mother did speak much about him - when they asked, she’d only reply that that’s where she and caderyn had gotten their coloration from. a touch annoying to not be in the loop, but aurelia couldn’t care less. anemone loved her more than enough to cover the other half of aurelia’s dna, so why bother thinking about the absent parent?

aurelia let out a little hum, a shiver running across her when the wind buffeted against her side. it was moments like these when she was envious of her brothers - they’d been blessed with thick fur, whereas aurelia had to tough the cold out. all the effort was worth it, she decided, when she broke onto the ledge. a dazzled grin graced her face and the girl pranced forward with glee - she was sure that this wasn’t the entirety of spirane that she looking at, but the view was wonderful. plopping her haunches down, aurelia’s grin didn’t fade as she stared out.
