they set out for asteraia after they finish up at taviora’s borders. or, aurum does, at least.
despite what argentum thought, aurum could read his brother like an open book. where others would see the tight lines of his maw and eyes as anger, aurum saw it as anxious energy. anxiety over what, aurum didn’t know, but he was getting so very tired of seeing his brother in such a state of worry. as exhausting as it was to watch, it must’ve been even more so for argentum - aurum could see the physical strain in the weary slump of his brother’s shoulders and the deep furrow of his brow.
he’d known argentum’s discomfort with taviora - it was a touch big for even him, so he could imagine the stress it’d given the other. as soon as they’d gotten away from the border, there had been visible relief in the way argentum’s shoulder slumped and his head hung between his shoulders. when argentum hadn’t offered the name of the next pack, aurum had decided for them. he’d set off at a mild pace, argentum hanging back by his hip as they moved through moladion.
despite what his brother thinks, aurum still thinks that asteraia might be a good fit for the pair of them. it’s small enough for argentum’s taste and aurum has heard that the alpha has no name but a face that’s memorable enough. aurum has always been a sucker for a mystery, now hasn’t he? the duo is most of the way there when argentum lets out an indignant bark. aurum rolls his eyes as he hears his brother’s stuttering protests, argentum going as far as to plant his feet firmly and go still. aurum doesn’t break his stride, continuing on expectantly. he hides a grin as he hears argentum’s groan and then the sound of snow crunching under a rapid step.
aurum settles on his haunches when they reach the border, comfortable to wait patiently. argentum paces back and forth a few steps behind him and aurum is fairly certain that the silver boy’s fur is slightly bristled with obvious unease. golden eyes roll at fond exasperation for the other and so, they wait.
