Whimsy could be quite insensitive without meaning to be. She had to learn when to bite her tongue. And when it would do no good to argue. The people who had been having a lark with Calvin were to blame for the song he had chosen, that and his lack of other songs to sing, not him. And if the remnants made the time pass quicker and he and Peets happier who was she to judge? Maybe it was a human thing, to judge without knowing the full extent of the damage. She definitely did not remember it as a hummingbird. She fingered the flowers delicately, half wishing for the simplicity of though and clearness of boundaries. But then, she would never have met Calvin or Peets at all.

"You'll learn some, eventually. Or other songs. Or just make up songs. You could write songs about Peets, or the remnants, or your past" though songs about his past would probably be classed as comic relief here. She takes her own flower chains, looping them together to create a blanket of flowers, and lays them on Peets's back. "There, you can have some more flowers" though now they were all decked out as if they were the Earth fairies from paintings way back when, all that was missing was a circle of mushrooms and a clearing in the forest.

She ponders Calvin's question. Hummingbirds are solitary. And fiercely territorial except during mating and rearing young. She doubts any of them miss her. And the hummingbird god Xiuphilli has too many little warriors to keep track of them all. And unlike some birds they do not mate for life. There is no one who is likely to notice her gone except the photographers who came to watch their colors, and track their movements. "No, we don't really keep track of each other" she answers simply. Maybe it was part of why she was so eager to make friends now. "What about you? Your person? Your herd?" She knew horses were much more likely to hang out in a group, and live in family or friendly groups.

Whimsy found other colors of flowers to pluck and add interspersed among the blanket on Peets's flank. While she may miss the simplicity, she did not miss her life on Earth. Unlike some, there was no one mourning her passing or waiting for her return. Here she already had friends who would care more than her family if she disappeared or returned. It makes her smile, to think on the life she is currently building. She hopes Calvin feels similarly, but many feel nostalgic for their life from before. She picks the petals off a flower, making a wish, like she had seen a school girl do years ago, though she had not understood it then.
