The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind

A twinge of pain in his limb made him stumble for a moment, not taking more than a second or two to get his bearings back. An annoyed growl escaped from his throat. What had he gotten himself into? The brute knew that he had made a mistake, but he would not admit that to the female that he had wronged. He had been plagued by madness, and he had no idea why. All he could remember was blind rage, blood pounding in his head, telling him to maim, hurt, kill. He had taken a lot of control not to give in to that last command. His inner demons had taken over though, and then all he could focus on was the taste of blood in his mouth. His fangs longed to tear and rip through flesh, his claws to break skin and cause blood to spill onto the ground beneath his paws.

Normally the brute could more easily control the emotions, the need, the blood lust. But he had not given in to his demons in so long that they were getting harder to keep in control. The grey varg had not always been like this, he used to be good, just. But not anymore. Not since his family had ben slaughtered. His father had been one of the strongest, yet nicest, wolves that he knew. He had always done what was right, even when no one else agreed with him. But he had been killed anyway, savagely murdered in front of his own daughter. Grey Wind had done what he could, tried to avenge his family, all of which he had believed to be dead, but he had not been able to track down and take out the pack that had massacred his family. And that was when the demons grew inside him.

The brute was in a particularly bad mood today, his daggers digging into the dirt as he walked through his home. The trees loomed overhead, keeping his large grey body hidden in shadows, as if he was stalking something, but really he just didn’t want to be disturbed by anyone. That’s one of the reasons that he liked this pack. If you didn’t want to be around others, they would not bother you. There was no one there to babysit you and see if you were okay or how you were holding up, you either survived, or you didn’t. That didn’t mean that this pack didn’t develop friendships or mates though. He knew more than one pair in the pack that was happily mated, and he himself had made a friendship with some of his pack mates. They were just not the overly friendly type of lupines here.

The brute knew that he still had duties to attend to. He needed to go on a border patrol, even though he was in no mood to meet with other lupines. It was not something that he could take a day off on, him taking a vacation would not keep the pack safe. And so with an annoyed sound, he headed to the borders. As he walked through the trees, the scent of Kershov and Scarlet Nights was strong, and he was glad that the two of them had been so active recently. As he was walking he caught the scent of a stranger. He paused his stride, yellow orbs looking around to see who was there, but there was no one. He growled, immediately suspicious of the varg that was there. Either they knew the pack’s history and were hiding from the demons that lived here, or they were up to no good. Why else would one hide? The brute rose high, plume held stiffly behind him, fur bristling as he called out with a growl. ”I would advise you show yourself immediately, if you know what’s good for you. It would be best if I did not come and find you myself.” His audettes and portals stayed alert, scanning the area for who was out there.

OOC: hope it’s okay that Grey Wind asked him to come out! I can re-write the end of the post though if you want your wolf to come out without him asking though =)

"Fight back,"He snarled.
