Her splashing stopped when the stallion’s did and she looked up at him, heartily confused by his sudden halt to their games. But her face broke into its typical grin when the meaning behind his words reached her. Every time someone approached her and reminded her about the magic and wonder of the world her heart lifted even more, and it catapulted her imagination and illusions of fantasy even further into the belief of myths.
“I am not! But I am the defender of the water spirits who live here!” With her coat the brown of molten chocolate, flecking and roaning with the grey she had adopted, and her hair turning the color of rusty fire, she looked more like a creature of earth than of water. This did not keep her from her friendship with the different element though, and she splashed around him again.
“But what of you? Are you friend of the sea? The sky, or the stars?” Another mighty splash from her small striped hooves sent water his way. Dark eyes looked up at him once again, expecting an answer that would launch them into territory unknown. “Do you walk with the giants of the forests?” Her young head tilted to the side slightly and she carefully reached out her muzzle to breath him in, trying to see if she could solve the mystery herself. “Or are you something else entirely? ”
