Awh Casj, I'm so sorry hun. :c Its never easy losing a companion, especially one so close to your heart and soul. Like Lz said, take your time. We'll all be around no matter what, and sometimes you just gotta take a moment for yourself to recoop from these kinds of things. <3

As for my own...

Lady: We were puppies together, growing up side by side. My parents bought you as a puppy when I was only a few months old, and there are adorable pictures of us laying together and cuddling. My best friend, my protector, my playmate. A beautiful, lopsided-ear black labrador who would let me grab onto your tail and then you'd pull me around the lake when we went swimming. As you got older the problems from your lopsided ears, allergies, and other complications took their toll. When we were 13 I went to school one day and when I got home your dog house was gone, your chainlink fence enclosure was dismantled, and there was a fresh patch of dirt in the yard. I didn't talk to my dad for a long, long time for not letting me say goodbye to you, Lady. There will never be another dog like you.

Tiger: You were my sister's cat, but I'll never forget you! We didn't have you long, taking in a stray sometimes doesn't end the way one would hope. After having you for about 6 months you took off and never returned. But I'll always treasure the memories of you playing with Lady's tail in the front yard!

Cinder: A hyperactive black lab (though I'm fairly certain you were a cross of some sort). I'm sorry I wasn't better to you. To say I was a distracted teenager without a lot of focus would be a cop out. I just wish you could have been the indoor dog I know you wanted to be. I don't know who stole you that summer while I was gone at camp, but I hope you ended up with someone who would keep you inside and give you all the attention you deserved.

Zoey: I honestly don't know if you survived. Such a sweet kelpie girl with great herding instincts bred in from incredible parents. I wish I could have taken you with me when I left Australia. I hope against all hopes that Chris treated you well, that you survived and thrived and are out chasing sheep to this day.

Amore: Oh, my beautiful painted grumpy old man. For a camp horse, you sure battled on for a long time. You taught me to have confidence in myself and to forget the hype that people talk about. To clear my mind and to form my own opinions. I was never more at peace than when we were taking a leisurely western jog through the fields. I hope you and Breck are enjoying greener pastures together, my boy. <3
