aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

~I hope you smile when you look down on me~

His nares traced a gentle line from her lower jaw to the base of her audit, making her skin tingle wherever he touched. “You do not need to apologize for anything, my dear. You can rest in my den for now, and once you have regained your strength in a few days we can look around for dens. I’m sorry I rushed you, I shouldn’t have pushed you so hard. The fault is mine.” His words were racked with sorrow and pain, but still strong enough for her understand. His crown pressed into hers once again, rubbing gently. His caressing touch brought life back into her saddened figure before he rose above her waiting for her to rise up and meet him. And she tried. Her shaking limbs raising her up to full height before her knees buckled, but his ivories grasped her scruff before she could fall any further. He was gentle with her as he carried her to his den. His canines never breaking skin nor ripping fur, and for that she was grateful. “Thank you Kalgalath…” Her words were light on the surface but deep down she knew they meant that she was indebted to Kal. She owed him her life, literally.

Sebring felt firs combing through her fur as Kalgalath put her in his den, “Welcome to my humble abode, Sebring.” Kalgalath had set her down, and she crawled through the opening. Her mottled knight followed her quietly, his figure settling around hers again. “You can sleep here as long as you need to, and know that you are safe. Whatever happened in your past, it is not here and it is not now.” Sebring startled slightly wondering what Kal knew of her past. “Thank you again, Kalgalath. You will never understand how much you or what you have done for me, means to me. I understand I have probably caused you more confusion and trouble in the last few days than you could have ever imagined, and for that I indebted to you… Only Sebring did not feel held against her will, she cherished these moments with Kalgalath knowing that eventually, once she was better he would return to his duties and she would be another wolfess in his pack. Nothing more. Though she desperately hoped that would not be the case.

Her vocals faded into the firs as she rubbed her crown against Kalgalath. She didn’t want to lose this feeling that she felt every time they touched, and more importantly she didn’t want to lose Kalgalath. But Sebring knew that eventually Kal would want to know about her past, it would be a necessary part of healing, really. She would have to learn, it wasn’t her fault. “Kalgalath, you must be confused and curious about my past and I guess I ought to tell you. Seeing as you have had to listen to my cries… the ashen ess fell silent as the darkness filled her vision. She buried her face into her mottled knights chest, “my father abandoned me as a pup after our den burned away and killed my mother. But that only lightens a small portion of what happened… I was only 4 weeks old along with my brothers and sisters and forest fires had been ripping apart our homeland. My father was upset and was begging my mother to leave, seeing that the fires were getting to close to our home. But my mother wouldn’t. She begged and pleaded with my father, because I was still in the den. My father had never really taken a liking to me, seeing that I was the runt. I hadn’t been able to escape on my own… and the flames had begun to enter the den making me more terrified to leave… and to my father’s dismay she came for me…”

Sebring’s eyes closed tightly trying to ward away the sights and smells of the burning den. “I remember my mother distinctly only because I am her exact copy. She came for me in the den, grabbing my scruff and dragging me out. But the flames and smoke that she was inhaling had begun to shut down her body… She was weak and gasping for air through my scruff… As a last effort to save me she threw me towards the den entrance as she tumbled back into the suffocating smoke. Her cries echoed out after me as I tumbled out of the den… My father’s bloody portals glared at me, but her made no motion to get me. My brothers and sisters cried out for our mother, but she never replied… She never came out… My father left me there, cursing me. I murdered my mother, I brought her death and the only payment I could offer was my death in return…” Sebring cried silently, no words could describe her pain. She curled tighter into her knight Kalgalath, “Please don’t leave me Kalgalath…” Her form was rigid as she waited for the cold air to return and Kalgalath to disappear.

"They’re only baby scars," She whispers.
