The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

His vocals had softened, words quiet and smooth as he addressed her talking. It's good you still have family around. Your brother has not been seen in Abendrot in a long time, is he back in Saw Tooth with you? You must be close to your dad and aunt then? I was close to my half-brother, Ghost, we were closest in age and grew up together. We trained together, hunted together, and really he felt like my full brother, though my mother was not happy with how much time we spent together. Macaria cocked her head, confused as to his words. Her family's dynamic was very different from most others. "Why did your mother... care?" She understood the terminology, and that there was a distinct possibility that they were paternally related and not maternally related... and that would explain the jealousy. But why did she care what the pups did or did not do? In her mind, mothers were bothersome things, meant only to pleasure their fathers and actually give birth to pups. She had never had a good relationship with her mother and could not comprehend actually having parents that cared.

When they got to the border, Macaria stopped but the brute kept going. Conflicted, she hesitated, not wanting to cross the boundary without permission, but this brute was ranked, so if he pulled her across the boundary because he needed her, wasn't that alright? The eboness' limb shook, trembling as she crossed into the territory, feeling an electric shock run through her. Still, she needed to fulfill her duty to him. When they were a good ways into the territory, she spoke to him to excuse herself as she did not want to get stuck too far into the lands - after helping him to his den she would still need to extricate herself from the terra... and the way out would be without him. But before she could turn to leave, he spoke, pleading for her continued aid. Macaria, wait. My den's still a ways from here, and it's hard for me to walk. Would you at least take me there? My pack is not as... understanding as yours. Some here would let me die in my weakened state instead of helping me, I don't know how I'll find food, and I would rather not have my packmates find out about my injuries. You've been a great healer, and if anything else were to happen to my wounds, I would prefer you to help me. Another soft whine pulled itself from her maw involuntarily at the thought of spending more time in Abendrot, but she shook her cranium and nodded.

"I will remain only until your wounds are closed. With proper poulticing it should only be a few days." Her words were spilled slowly, regretting them even as she spoke them, but her morals ingrained by her aunt made it impossible for her to refuse. Her young age made her naive and innocent to the ways of the world... and let her fall into the trap at her feet without her even knowing it.
