Return to Lunar Children

Learning to lose gracefully
IP: 98.16.26.228

Lunar Children has long been plagued with a problem since the reconstruction. I, myself, was even guilty of it a few times.

We, as a community, must learn to lose gracefully.

In so many fights I have read these passive-aggressive sentences when damage has been dealt and while we may not even think of it, that is how it comes across. Things remain amicable between players after a loss is taken - which is lovely - but there is always a bit of bad blood that boils in the aftermath.

You put so much work, so much of your heart, into these writings and yet you are dealt a hand that you did not think you deserved. It is hard to accept a loss after you have slaved over a post that you are so proud of (I know how it feels!). But we have to stop ruining the fun of it. In all reality, Lunar Children is just a writing game, our characters (No matter how much they mean to us) are not real and the results of a writing battle have very little to do with anything.

Yes, the battles mold our characters in many different ways, that's what they are supposed to do! If your wolf loses a fight that you thought you had in the bag, don't get upset, accept it as it is and let it advance your character in a ton of different ways. Does it give them further drive to better themselves? Does it make them never want to challenge again? There are endless possibilities and just because they did not win a challenge does not mean it is the end of the line for them.

I remember in the old days of Lunar Children when Kiska challenged Devil May Cry for Paracon. She had a great battle but lost to him and yet he wanted her to join Paracon as a high ranking wolf. The rest is history! (Literally)

The point of this morale boost being that losing a battle is not the end of life itself - it has taken me a while to even accept that fact. Yes, you make a badass post, be proud of that! Your efforts did not go unnoticed because everyone here is an awesome writer and the judges see that in every thread. Don't sweat the small things and let's work on making this fun again :)
