Kairos returned the leader's pleasant smile, pleased that her gift had been appreciated. The dark pelt of the queen of Iromar flickered in the dancing sunbeams that sliced between the boughs of trees lording far above their heads. Around them, the stench of fetid water and numerous, slimy creatures permeated the air, but the white wolf did not let her emotions regarding the aroma reach her face. Malcontent at the very landscape Aithne ruled would surely not stand her in good stead. The empress spoke then, voicing her pleasure, and Kairos wagged her tail in reply before beginning to explain the true reasoning behind her visitation.

At her words she sensed the atmosphere change, and the queen's easy disposition evaporated like water in a desert. Her muscles tensed subtly beneath her pelt and it was clear she was no longer comfortable with the situation, despite her attempt at guarding her expression. The young wolf lowered her head further, attempting assuage the warrior with submission, and blinked reassuringly. It seemed she had not chosen the first recipient of her plan very well. Se had been hoping for a believer from the start, and yet it seemed she had landed up confronting just the opposite. Oh well, one could not gain without trying. Taking a deep breath, she replied, voice soft and careful, “Forgive me, I see that this topic of conversation troubles you, and yet duty calls me forward. The creators are unhappy. Those they molded choose to ignore their existence, rather putting their faith in sight, sound and logic. All these are necessary for survival, yes, but they were gifts given by the gods themselves, love proves this to be so. They sent me here, and to all leaders in Moladion, to present their case. It is a plea, if you will, for those on earth to turn their faces back towards the heavens. It will not require much on the part of you and your pack.”

Here she paused, letting the words sink in, and removed her paw from the diamond stone which it had thus far concealed. The glittering rock caught a shaft of light as it rolled, casting an almost ethereal rainbow about the tricoloured female, giving the rendezvous an almost insubstantial reality so that it may have appeared to Aithne as though she were dreaming. Even lying in the mud, it was the most beautiful and precious thing that Kairos had yet laid eyes on, and she could only hope that others would think the same, “The eye of the Gods.
