Spring is a magical thing. From the days of past in which I had been so small, so incapable of many things, they are long gone and morphed into something much more. Living without a voice was not as difficult and saddening as many would expect either; in fact, I’ve enjoyed being unable to speak for it makes them listen to my actions far more. I am able to snap and become visually angered without retaliation from Mother because of my inability. Little do any of them know that I do indeed have a voice – I have several of them. But they are mine and only mine to keep.
It was agreed many months ago that I would be aiding my beloved sister in her quest to eradicate the strangeness of Ilias. Perhaps she can help him with whatever plan she has in place; maybe she hoards some otherworldly abilities to cure him of his struggles. I do not know but she says that she will make him stop screaming so much.
Eyes of the purest, brightest amethyst look forward with eagerness and yet I cannot shake the unease that radiates like toxin from Ilias’ figure behind me. I turn my head to look back at him for a moment, my face solemn and yet my eyes betray what I truly mean to say. Why are you so worried? We are only a level below our den. He is such a weakling, no wonder Kairos wants to end him. End him? I didn’t think that was the idea... I reply to my demons. Of coursssssse. Why else would she have you drag him into the shadows? The voices call back to me as I attempted to give silent encouragement to my brother, though they only caused my expression to shift. My attentions turn back to the course in front of me as we descend along the path to the grotto. I keep my posture confident, tail risen, steps light and sometimes misplaced due to growing changes, but overall I have little worry for what is about to play out.
We enter the shade of the caverns as I follow Kairos’ trail to a small hollow area in which she sits ever so patiently. Immediately I approach her and greet her with a bump of my nose to her face, tail wagging as I pivot to look back at Ilias. I am simple going by her plan with each moment; if it was my duty to sit back and keep him from leaving them so be it.
