At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Once in a while we will find,

the sound of your heart beats with mine,

and when it's time

I'll leave the ocean behind...

For a moment or two Pierce was no where to be seen and Delia began to worry. Did he think she was really running from him? She was just trying to play. The tan ess craned her neck around to look for her new friend, and just as she was about to stop and run back Pierce leaped out with a playful smirk. His large body landed right next to her and she squeaked in pleasant surprise. He did follow her! A large grin spread across Delia's cream muzzle at the realization. She hadn't even seen him, or heard him! Or smelled him!

Gosh, perhaps I should work on my senses soon... Maybe Pierce can teach me how to do that sneaky thing!

Upon realizing her unusual vulnerability Delia felt comforted by and grateful for her Knightly companion's presence. Had that been a rogue she might have been in deep trouble. She had never learned how to defend herself, and living by the nearly abandoned Falls meant that she never had to, but if she were to travel in the future she'd have to learn. And if she were to become a mother someday she'd need to be able to protect her precious babies.

Pierce's playful lyrics disrupted her train of thought, but of course she was exited to continue their conversation and replied eagerly.

I bet you're really good at hide and seek!

She laughed at the thought of Pierce trying to hide behind a tree from a bunch of rambunctious pups intent on finding him.

I didn't mean to, but we're headed toward my den. Muscle memory took over I guess. We're nearly there, actually! Look!

Cordelia hopped up and down enthusiastically before jetting off again toward her shrub home. Upon reaching the entrance she squirmed in and turned around the face her ghost. She peeked out with eyes like Amazonite that beamed with pride. Pierce towered over her now, with his paws at her eye level. Words tumbled out of her mouth in one big excited jumble,

It's not much compared to a whole territory... but wadda ya think Sir Pierce?
