STRACK
The bewildered expression on Adelheid's face is endearing and Strack feels his heart swell for the little girl. She is brave, venturing this far from home with an adult stranger -- braver than the majority of foals he had had the pleasure of meeting in his lifetime -- and it's a quality that the Nez Perce has always appreciated. Her awe lasts only briefly before she is bounding into the water and circling around him, her lithe body splashing him with the cool water of the basin as she goes. He laughs with her and turns his head upwards to keep the droplets from his face, but then lowers it once more as she begins to speak in response to his statement. "I think it might be!"

He grins and nudges her neck gently at the mention of her friends, "Well there's your problem, my dear! You can't be looking for other peoples' magic, you have to find your own!" He moves closer to the waterfall now, the roaring water growing louder with each step. When he calls out for Adelheid again, he has to yell so that his words are not masked by the white noise "Let's go look for your magic! You can hold onto my tail if you're worried about making it all the way underneath the waterfall," he is patient as he waits for the girl, appreciative of his time spent with her. More often than not, the speckled stallion found that he was either rushed or worried or nervous or flustered. The times that he is able to relax without a place to be or a time to move on are ones that he considers special, even if he doesn't voice it.

When she reaches him, Strack grins excitedly, and moves closer to the falls. "Ready?!" He plunges beneath the waterfall, the cold water pounding a beat against his muscled back. When they reach the other side, they're greeted by a large half-circle cave. It's carpeted in knee-length grass and the wall that descends slowly to the floor in the back is sprinkled with gems that glitter whenever the waterfall briefly breaks and allows sunlight to shine through. He's taken back by their find, and his own surprise shows as he turns his gaze over to Adelheid. "Wow," he grins at her excitedly, "Do those gems have some of your magic in them? What do you see?"

THE SUN SAID, "IT HURTS TO BECOME,"
