Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

I hear about our siblings from mom in her stories and I hear things I want to be in all of them. I want to be fast like my sister and fearless like my brother. I want to be alert to my surroundings like my deaf brother. Sami and I did practice lip reading but we usually got too distracted halfway through the sentence. Or I cracked some kind of joke and sent her rolling on the ground laughing. Practice over by that point. I hope that some day soon we'll get to meet them but until then, I want to know everything and everyone around me. Hopefully we'll run into a pack mate or two later today. I never think about the fact that mom is new to Glorall. As my sister, I just figure that since we're born here, we're to stay here, but I certainly don't plan on staying forever. There's a whole world out there to explore!

While I do tend to rush into dangerous situations, I would do anything to protect my sister. I'm more of the outgoing type so where my sister would withdraw, I could distract and help relieve her of the stress of decisions. I even let her have her fun with the butterfly, at least for a few minutes. At my sarcastic words, she laughs and starts to strut and I snort in humor, rolling my eyes again but giggling inside that I got her to laugh. I like being the jokester, at least to make her not focus on the new surroundings and new situations as much. It seems to relax her when I get her laughing. When I pause at the strange sound, she bumps into me and I grunt in surprise, turning to eye her but not in a scolding way, too distracted by the new mystery of the sound. I must find out where it's coming from!

I know that we're past the boundaries mom set for us but I'm trying to distract Samia with the sound so that she won't lose faith and want to go back. At my daring idea, Samia looks almost paniked and I offer her a grin, trying to diffuse the situation. "Relax, Samia. We won't go under. I'm more graceful than that." I respond proudly as I lift my head and eye her with that fearless expression. When Samia crouches with her tail tucked, though, I have to sigh and cool down my ego. I hate seeing her scared. I scowl and look back toward the water, wishing I knew how to talk her into it but I can see I'm getting nowhere today so finally I smile and shrug to reassure her.

"Fine, shore it is." She does succeed in distracting me though with the big wooden figure further down the river. What IS it? My eyes widen and my lips part in an O as she starts to head in that direction. "Hey..wait up!" I call out as I lope after her, tripping over my own feet again and coming dangerously close to falling into the river. "Whoa!" I call out as my leg flops over the edge of the bank, my toe just barely rippling the surface as I scramble back and straighten up, shaking off the dust before rushing after her again. As I get closer, I pause and sniff the air. "Do you smell that?" It's an animal but what kind? And then I see a large flat tail moving up ahead. Crouching low, I grin at Samia, my way of letting her know I'm going to be sneaky and pounce on it. She should definitely know that look by now since it's the same one she gets when I'm about to pounce on her or mom.
