Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

"it is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both"

Babbling sounds of river water gently wake me from my afternoon nap within Glorall. I tend to keep to the northeastern most area of the territory due to the fact that it is frequented less; and I simply love the soft sounds of the forest river as opposed to the crashing ocean. A large, lingering yawn sets my bone arsenal on full display as I raise my golden crowned head upward to take in my view.

Within only a few moments of awakening I begin to pant – this day is already scorching even in the shade of the trees. I stretch my neck forward and rise my rump upward in a nice release of sleep within my muscles before standing completely. A quick shake of my entire body finally has me ready to escape from this suffocating heat. Faint brindled paws move to carry me toward Glorall’s river so that I may take a quick dip into the shallows before I aim to make the journey to the Aplos.

The water seeps slowly through the thickened undercoat to cool me off and prepare me for the hot sun that will beat down upon my back soon enough. Eyes of bejeweled hues peer through the sparkling depths of clear water as I wait a moment longer. Fishes of all sizes swirl within the current, most darting away from my large paws, and it is now that I think back to my mother’s uncanny ability to catch these creatures. I had never been raised by a moving body of water such as this and so I’ve had little to no practice at all. I assume that if I were to live here then it would only be suitable to pick up on this talent.

The river has done a swell job in retracting the heat from my core, effectively chilling my body temperature and causing me to wade from its embrace so that I may travel away from the terra. By the time it is that I make my expedition from one river to another, a good amount of time has passed and now evening is befalling the realm around me. The sun, with its ever present rays of heat, has destroyed what contentment I had in the coolness the water of Glorall had brought me. My tongue bounces as it hangs from agape jaws, my pace being that of a nice jog as I make my way toward the banks of the Aplos.

After such a long travel it is only right that I am at least a little hungry. So when I hear the splashing of another and the unforgettable stench of fish carcass, I aim my direction toward the earthen female whom has caused it. I approach her at a slower pace, as she rips apart the body of the creature, and stop a comfortable distance away from her selected feeding ground. ”You caught that on your own?” Perhaps I am a bit surprised that one younger than myself could be so gifted. Or just lucky. ”Do it again.”
