Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Silence. Dark silence. It enveloped the forest around her, putting her at unease. Her breath was clouding at the end of her muzzle, and icy snow crunching beneath her paws; hyper aware of her surroundings, every sight seeming to only get more vivid. The thought of 'This isn't right, it's supposed to be summer.' Made its way to the surface of her mind, but only for a brief moment. This forest was so familiar to her, but not her current home. Before she could place a familiarity of her location, a haunting howl breaks through the silence. Her russet paws began racing towards the source, panic striking to her core. This was becoming all too familiar for her taste, memories flashing to the forefront of her mind. Only when she finally makes it to the den that the howl originated from does she realizes why this scenario was so recognizable. It had been spring, even though snow still covered the ground and prey scarcely to be found, the night she was out in hopes of finding more food for the pack; it was that night that insanity had rung in her mother's howl, the night she had come to the rescue of her younger brothers. Tentatively she enters the den only to find a wolf, she barely recognized as herself, tearing into her mother. She stood by knowing she was only here as soundless invisible observer, unable to interfere with anything. Perhaps that's why it caught her by surprise, when after the deed was done; her dark side turned to her, staring at her with a cold emotionless look in the eyes they both see the world through. "I have always been within you, even when you thought I didn't exist. You and I, we are one of the same, no matter if you refuse to believe it; we are just two sides of the same coin, and you'll never escape me, and for sure never be rid of me." It sneered and continued speaking, "So why not just give in? I know you want to, after all your thoughts are mine too; so why not just give in already? What are you afraid of? That I’ll kill somebody and you'll no longer be welcomed in that 'home' of yours? Please, they'll never truly accept you, truly accept us." It crackled darkly as the world faded to blackness before she could respond.

She snapped awake from the nightmare back in her den in Taviora, heart beating hard and fast against her ribs; she has only been back a few days, and had been attempting to get some sort of satisfactory rest. Slowly getting to her feet she exits from the hollow under the tree into warmer outside air, serving a reminder that spring had faded to summer while she fought the internal battle against her beast side. The battling had worn her down, and sleep only seemed to rest her body; mentally and emotionally she was exhausted, but physically was unable to stop moving. Her other-self had barely settled and it worried her, it's whispering in the back of her mind continued throughout all of winter and most of spring; and even now continues to haunt her dreams. And throughout all of this, her wish to confide to Mikken had only gotten stronger in her time away from him. She knew that there would never be a permanent solution to the beast, and painfully aware she couldn't hide it forever. Her attempt to find a healer to look into how calm the beast, had failed; so now she needs a new plan, someone to bounce her confessions off of. These summer nights were still warm from the day's heat, and though she typically preferred colder weather; this particular night, with the full moons light dappling the ground through the branches, was just too perfect to pass up a stroll. With only the light of the moon revealing her path as she silently walked, much night sounds coming from the trees around her; far different from her dreams. She patrolled the borders of her home, making herself useful now that sleep seemed like a farfetched delusion.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
