I am the hand of God. I am the dark messiah. I am the vengeful one.
Those unblinking bright eyes continue their intense stare upon the wolf that does not smell like them. She remembers the phrases the Provider had spoken to her and her lazy brother. They were weak, but they would grow strong, but for now they were vulnerable. Early one she was taught that not every wolf would be friend, but that the majority of them would be foe. Why another wolf would want to harm herself and her brother she did not know, but the Provider cares...and the Provider speaks the truth. Wolves that are not from Asteraia were dangerous. Although she was rambunctious and was growing into her rebellious young stage she would not cross that invisible line, believing the Provider, because the one time she and her brother tried to sneak off the Protector kept them in. After that traumatic experience she understood quickly, that Provider and Protector were right, and it was best not to anger them...especially the Protector.
It was rare for outside wolves to venture so close to the borders. Hardly did anyone new ever approach the lands. The only ones that did joined. She wanted to see more of this special white ear, one that the she-wolf borrowed, apparently believing her story entirely. How one could borrow an ear, she did not know, but she wanted to learn how. Taking a tentative step forward, edging closer to the boundaries, she would lift her upper half off the ground and attempt to stand on her back paws. She was small and this was her only way to investigate how this white appendage was attached without a trace of a scar. Sadly though her back legs failed her and the ebony and charcoal puppy tumbled to the ground. Disappointed that her legs had failed her once more she turned her dial and barred her teeth at her back legs, warning them that she would not tolerate their disobedience anymore. Keeping her cold stare on her legs she uttered another question to the wolf with the white ear.
“Other ear...weeeeeaaak?”
As a child of Tobias it was only natural that she become another servant to the natural orders dictated to her by instincts and natural law. Weakness in others would not be tolerated and even at such a young age she was already understanding that particular protocol. It was when Galileo began to introduce herself and speak of their family did Nevermore grow concerned. Provider never liked royal titles, why she did not know, but she knew it was not liked. Concerned for Galileo she scrambled to her massive dark paws, bounding towards him and slamming into his leg. Forcing herself back up to stand on her back paws, she leaned her front paws up his leg, as she brushed her muzzle near his cheek aiming to whisper in his ear. Sadly though she had no idea what the proper way to whisper was. Instead of speaking softly to the wolf she has chosen as her ‘favorite,’ for he was always kind to her and smaller, she shouted at him.
“Shhhhhhhh, Favorite, you know Mother doesn’t believe in royal titles. Won’t tell Mother Favorite said Brother’s name was baaaaadddd.”
Wagging her silvery flecked tail back and forth she crawled down from his leg and began to walk around underneath him. The wolf with the white ear all forgotten as her attention turned to Galileo’s tail. Wiggling her rump she shoved her stomach to the ground as she crawled on her belly inching herself closer to his tail. She liked the game of yanking tails, she liked the sounds other wolves made when she tugged hard, and right now her mind was focused now on the idea of play. Though at the mention of other children she turned around and peeked her head out from underneath Galileo’s chest. Nuzzling his leg she looked up at the wolf with the white ear. Surely Galileo would understand that Nevermore had an interest with other children. She and her brother were the only ones here and he hardly wished to play. Other packs and other wolves had pups, and yet, she was a child of Tobias...and her safety would always be threatened. Being born from the most terrified wolf within Moladion had its disadvantages, and the fact she was the child of an Alpha, well that just helped elevate her value. Softly she uttered her inquiry about these...children.
“Can children come heeeerrrreeee? Mother says not supposed to leave home...outside wolves will killllll ussss...”
