The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

It is a truth that we’ve grown so very much since our youth – perhaps my own transformation the greatest of them all. I had never imagined being able to sit with Kane and jest as if there had never been a fault in our relationship. He nods and responds to my brusque insinuation at his latest skirmish, his words answered with a slight tip of my own skull toward him. There is a glimmer of respect within my own blue and gold flecked eyes – of which neither of us can deny ties us together. If there were any doubts of my relation with Kane, they would easily be put to rest if one were to point out our similar irises.

He brings my obvious pregnancy to attention as his gaze softens and ends the statement in question as to where exactly my mate was. A short chuckle begins my reply as I settled down into a reclined position, one paw crossed over the other while I ease back. ”Yes, I believe this will make us even, if I do not beat you come this spring in regards to number of children.” I chuckle again. ”Though that is hardly why I’ve ever conceived in the first place, mind you. I needed legacies.” I quickly speak again so that he does not take what I had said in the wrong way.

A lingering silence passes between us as the wind gusts loudly outside and I speak once again of my mate. ”Elijah is with the kids in the den… up there.” I point my nose upward as if Kane could not figure it out on his own. The den above the grotto is certainly enough to protect all of them, if not then Elijah should know better to take position at the mouth of the stony cave among the crags. ”What are you doing all the way out here anyway? Isn’t dearest Isola worrying over you?” I chortle after mockingly speaking of his mate, despite how upset it may make him to joke in such a way. He is quite aware that I had never been too fond of her anyhow. What’s the hurt in it now?
