The summer heat was near sweltering this time of year, and the moors were no exception. If anything they might be one of the least enjoyable territories during the summer months. The low lying lands provided little relief from the temperatures, the water turning warm and somewhat stagnant and a breeding ground for all kinds of pesky insects. The lands also had few trees to speak of and don’t even get him started on the humidity! All in all it should come as no surprise that he decides to escape the confines of the moorlands for the cool relief of the waterfalls that poured over the rocks just to the north in the Crags. Large, crimson paws carry him swiftly over the borders he so vigilantly protected and into the free lands, his bulky form carried with the surprising grace of his sweeping gait.
He is power personified, the rippling of his generous muscles visible beneath his brilliant coat as it catches the afternoon sun. He trains daily, as he had every day of his life, and it shows in the effortless way he simply exudes presence. He is almost to his destination, he can hear the running water just ahead beyond the rocks, when a long, wavering howl resonates over the rocks as an open invitation to anyone within earshot to go to… the waterfalls. He stops midstride, plush ears rotating outwards as he growls softly to himself in aggravation. The large wolf is not what most anyone would call social, preferring his solitary lifestyle and mingling with his pack only when truly necessary, which is why he was less than thrilled that his quiet afternoon was apparently going to be much less quiet than he imagined.
With a hefty sigh his shook his large head before leaping easily from rock to rock, climbing the last few feet until he looked down upon the pools below which were already beginning to fill up with those answering the call. For a moment he simply watches them, his intense emerald eyes watching them all pour over the landscape in surprising numbers. With a final shake of his white marked head he leaps from his perch, landing with a sturdy splash in the cool water. He paces silently on the outskirts of the group until he reaches the bubbling waterfalls that were still running quite well. Without further ado he promptly ducks himself under the rushing water, allowing the soothing sound to block out the rest of the world for a few moments before he reemerges. With a swift shake, not quite caring who might get wet in the process, he shakes the excess water from his pelt before moving to the far side of the group, content just to watch…and wait.
