aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

wolf

~I hope you smile when you look down on me~

It did not take the inexperienced wolves long to find at least one of specified herbs, but as they returned they were brought to attention. The ashen girl had padded in slowly behind the other two femmes, Daenerys and Khaleesi. Hellene seemed less worried about Sebring and Daenerys, but her daughter still needed to learn a bit more control. Good job Daenerys, you have matched your plant to my own. Khaleesi, my love, while you have found poppy, it is a different version, a different species. In this occasion, it will still have the same effect, although it may not be as potent. Be careful in the future, though, for there are many plants that mimic the herbs that you are truly searching for. It is best to stick with what you know instead of venturing into the unknown unless absolutely necessary - some of the mimics will be harmless, but others can be poisonous or even lethal. The late ess perked her ears at the faint words making sure she understood what was being said. Hellene focused back on her and gave a small approval of her work before sending the trio off to find the rest of the herbs again.

Sebring rose up quietly and padded behind the two girls again. She didn’t want to be in the way of their excitement. She knew her body couldn’t handle much exertion at this point. She was still weak from her, most recent bought of trouble. Her ashen paws treaded lightly across the ground her nose following the previous trails of Daenerys towards the poppy. She smiled at the sight of the bright red flower before she began to uproot the plant and take it back. And just like before she padded in, last. Hellene gave them all glances to make sure they had the proper supplies before continuing. We will not be learning any other herbs today, but instead will be learning how to use them, depending on the situation. As a healer, you need to be innovative, as not every case will be by the book. For example, I told you that you would have them eat poppy and ginger, and that you would apply the moss topically. But what if they are vomiting? If they cannot keep the medicine down, it will not be there long enough to take effect. It will not work as well for ginger, but for poppy at least, you can soak it in a special container, like the one I have here that I carefully scraped out, and then soak the injured part of the body in it. This, of course, would not fit a whole body and is best only for wounds on the limbs, tail, and face. You could use a puddle in a pinch, but you would need a lot more poppy and you would then have to worry about contamination. Another option you have is to first soak the moss in water and then apply the poppy flax or seeds to the moss when you poultice the wound - this will allow for some absorption and some local relief of pain. Another option is to make them eat something that will cease their vomiting but we will discuss that a different day. Do any of you have questions so far? All of the girls shook their heads and listened to her interactional trial.

The three girls were each tasked with 1)breaking open the garlic and trying a bit, 2)Ingest poppy to taste and feel the effects and 3) mash up the moss make a cast-like apparatus for one of their limbs. Sebring nodded her head and furrowed her brow as she looked for a rock to break the garlic head. She picked up her garlic and padded to an area with miniature rocks and tablets. She set the garlic head with the seam of the seed faced up. She grasped a rock in her teeth and proceeded to start hitting the head of the garlic with the stone. She took care to align her rock with the more pointed edge hitting the rock. She heard the crack of the case within a couple of hits and dropped the rock to see her work. The cloves sat in the sunlight and the stench was becoming a bit overwhelming with the three girls all working to unleash the awful smelling herb. She nibbled at the clove and instantly tasted the bitterness. Sebring made a disgusted face but continued of her nibble of garlic. She took the liberty to quickly rinse out her mouth. There was a small residue left in her mouth but nothing that she couldn’t handle.

Sebring saw the other ess’ working on the moss cast after taking the poppy and so she followed suit. The bright seeds fell down her throat with ease and it wasn’t long before she felt the subtle effects the poppy. Her body was suddenly weightless and a metric ton at the same time, her thoughts were foggy and she almost spaced the moss project she was supposed to be doing. She blinked several times, her pupils a bit more dilated and the light was starting to hurt her eyes. She ducked her head and began to chew up the moss trying to ignore the poppy induced delusions.

With the minimal amount of poppy she had taken the effects wore off shortly before she began to apply the cast of moss mush. She worked on her forelimb making sure to pack the top of her leg good ad tight to insure it was fitted to her leg. She worked quietly, letting the sun shine down on her leg and she closed her eyes to block out the rays. After a few minutes she opened her eyes and let them re-adjust to the light, the effects of the poppy finally gone. She looked at her dried, green cast and poked it gently with a claw to test its hold. She felt no movement in her forelimb. Taking this as her sign of completion she moved with ultimate care and rose to her other three paws. The casted leg rested on the ground. She smiled, proud that she could say that she knew how to cast someone. She looked for Hellene and found her talking with Khaleesi. Sebring waited quietly before calling out to Hellene herself, Hellene? How does this look? She asked as the female approached. After listening for a reply she continued, Would it be possible to help stabilize a broken bone by putting a thin branch alongside the limb while casting to help keep it straight? She had met wolves with previously broken limbs whose casting had caused their limbs to heal in very disfigured ways. She wondered if that could have prevented with better care and maybe a stronger stabilizer.

"They’re only baby scars," She whispers.
