As the words flew from my lips I immediately saw the heated glint in her eye. She was geared up to retaliate and yet she suddenly relaxed, her pretty, little head hanging low in glumness. Those vivid optics peer back up at me, digging into the core of my very being as she wills them to, her voice speaking gently in return. Yes, I had come back for her; if only to save her life so that I may know she would live it out. She was a small, fragile thing and despite all of my threats to take her last breath myself I couldn’t let another do it after I had backed out. I had always known there was a reason why I had kept her alive and it was far more complicated than simply bringing new blood to fruition.
The anger now burns hotly within her as she rises upon her dainty paws, a ferocity in her expression that urges nothing more than a flicker of an ear from myself. I do not fear her or her temperament; if she has learned anything from this night it is that I can tear her body to shreds just like the foolish cat. All she must do is unlock the bloody beast again. ”The children I have brought to life will know me whether you want them to or not. And if I recall correctly it was your life in trade for carrying my legacy.” I speak firmly and yet weariness threatens to break my resolve.
I shift my weight only slightly, still uneased by the soreness of my injuries, my eyes breaking contact with her own for only a moment before she speaks again. ”A deal with the traitor mistress again? Do I look like that much of a fool to you?” the words come out gruffly as I look back to her. For a long moment I am silently considering it, too stubborn to immediately agree to her terms, for it is only my terms that I live by. ”No. If by spring that you do not have my blood offspring then I will kill you. This time I swear by it…” I trail off as I move subtly once more, growling deeply as the pain ripples through my nerves.
She speaks of healing abilities and yet I have done well enough without such voodoo workings before. I do not answer her on that part, allowing her to take my silence in whichever way she wishes. ”Now get over here.” It is demanded as I finally lay back upon to cool terrain of the cavern, allowing the rocks to soothe my aching body and absorb the oozing blood from my chest. |
