Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Why are there big stinky trees everywhere? I can't see a dang thing out here! I went to the butterfly hunt with my parents and then I swear I won the whole thing and so I decided I'd get out of there before the rest of those losers riot or something. You never know what a lesser wolf is going to do. So I decided to go back home and wait for mom and dad to bring home my prize. It'd better be big!

But I wanted to take a shortcut so I cut through into the woods and now I think I might just be lost. Just my luck! The more walk, the more soggy the ground gets too and it's squishing beneath my paws now and it's all icky and gross. Where are nice sandy plateaus when you need them? I sigh and keep on walking, that is, until I hear a threatening growl. Instantly I shrivel upon myself and start glancing around. I don't see anything but what was that? My hackles stand up, my ears flat to my skull as my tail tucks. I almost want to shout for my parents but I doubt that will help in this situation. They're all the way back in the valley and they probably won't make it to me before whatever the heck that was. It sounded pretty close.

I gulp and keep looking around, afraid to move, to breathe, to do pretty much anything. Seeing a fallen cypress tree up ahead, I crouch and move as slowly as possible to it, trying my best not to make any noise. Where are the guardians of Diveen when I need them? Hello, princess in danger here! I roll my eyes at the irony of it all since apparently they still can't find my older sister Paravana either. Daddy had better start training his subordinates better or else! But onto more important matters. I don't hear anything so I start to peek over the log but that's when I hear it again, another low growl and this time even closer!

Gasping quietly, I shrivel back against the log and watch and wait. When I hear a twig snap somewhere off to the left, I gasp again and snap my head around. I squint my eyes, trying to make out something, anything. Who's out there? Friend or foe?
