Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I wasn’t sure why she asked after the fields really, maybe she just liked them, maybe she wanted to visit them, I truly have no idea, my form moving to seat myself comfortably now in this interim of conversation as my white tail wrapped about my paws and my red back ears pricked forward as she continued to speak now. Her desire to suddenly go there was surprising, at least, she never had mentioned them before although I suppose one does not often mention places they have never been. I haven’t been to Glorall, at least, not really. I think that is somewhere I would like to go one day, if only to see it and understand it. If my own plans were to come to fruition in the future then I would need to have at least been to the ocean, seen it, made friends with somewhere there to assure my knowledge of it didn’t…..lets say, dwindle. I had already sorted Diveen and Taviora and Asteraia- although the recent challenge there threatened to undermine such plans. That would be entirely in the paws of Jaidah, if she were to win back her throne and if so I would need to revaluate my choice in informant if she was of a mind to remove any touch of the ruling bloodline. I had however, made my choice with dual purpose, the nature of him and his connections having seemed solid enough and I hoped indeed they would last if Jaidah were to retake her place. If not, well, I would have to do all the work again and honestly the idea hardly appealed to me.

I shook the thought away for now, Zelda speaking of her grandparents and their previous claim on the land as the violet of my gaze lifted slightly. I had never known of her connections to the fields, in fact of the fields I knew very little in reality. Grandfather had rarely spoken of them though I knew of the wolf, Iblis, who had once resided there, a wolf whom had fought for Diveen in the war and one my Grandfather seemed to think highly off. That was significant truly, he rarely thought highly of anyone save himself. Aside from the name however, I knew very little, if anything, about this Iblis or if he held connection to Zelda and truly I found myself curious now though her sentence moves to trail away.

“Why didn’t you get to meet them?”

Maybe I shouldn’t have pressed the idea, I was however, perhaps too young to have a fully developed sense decorum in that regard. One day I would, one day I would have some understanding over when to pursue a topic and when to let it go though I suppose this could be passed off as simple childish innocence. If her grandparents had ruled the fields, then why didn’t her parents rule them now? Impa and Tobias surely were not an uncle or aunt to herself meaning that family, at some point, had lost its blood claim. Politics I suppose, have always been of interest to me and in this story I found ready interest- at least, if she were willing to share it, the violet of my gaze resting upon her still. I wasn’t sure, truly, how going to the pack would help her to know them and yet I saw no real reason to argue it either. I needed to go to speak with Impa, why not bring Zelda along with me. We could play I Spy on the way or something, what? It’s a long walk, although after you’ve spied tree and rock the game does tend to lose its vigour.

“Well we could go now if you wanted to, I don’t see why not, I need to go myself as I said and I’m allowed to walk on in. We’ll just say you’re with me.”

I flashed a ready grin then, tail waving momentarily as I lifted myself a little proudly, pleased at having managed to gain this diplomatic immunity of sorts with the field pack. Maybe one day I’d even own it.
