He waited on the border, shifting his weight from one side to the other, fiery eyes dancing from side to side. It wasn't out of impatience, but apprehension, and Victor was a little justified in that. He was young and he had no familial ties, the boy was a loner in every sense of the word. His father had trained him some in the ways of the warrior, but Vic was explosive in his power, not a steady force, and so it was difficult for him to compare strategies and techniques when the way they went about it was just so different. And now his father was gone, and what he had taught the boy might as well have never been spoken.
Brown ears pricked forward at the returned howl, sounding like one a wolf might release before a hunt. It filled him with a strange sort of energy, as if he were preparing to do something wonderfully grand. Victor watched as the wolf approaching him did not slow to a stop until he was nearly upon him. But the boy did not flinch, simply looked at Eden with the same intensity that he looked at everything. His eyes were fire, burning, and he was prepared for whatever was thrown at him. He was intimidated only slightly, mostly due to the fact of their size differences and the power dynamic, but inherently Victor was prepared.
He raised his head, meeting Eden's gaze in not a show of dominance or disrespect but that of a self-assured nature. Victor was not purposeless in coming here. The wolf standing before him he knew to be the ruler of these lands, simply by the way that he carried himself, by the way that he was waiting for Victor to prove something. "Alpha Eden," He began, his voice smooth and without the accent of his father's or the jitteriness of his mother's. "I have heard good things about Glorall and it's leader. I am looking for purpose, and I believe that I can find it here." He finished then, hoping that Eden would not ask about his family or where he had come from.
There was nothing there with which he could prove himself. There was no tie, no bond, between Victor and his family, and he would prefer to keep it that way. |
