Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Oort had noticed the other male’s approach a short while before Viserys was upon him. He paused mid-step, his head inclined slightly to one side, and observed the other male with poorly concealed curiosity. It appeared that the stranger was looking for something, though just what that something was was anyone’s guess. Regardless, Oort was becoming acutely aware of the fact that he had not yet been noticed, and he found himself preparing to call out to prevent the collision that appeared by this point to be a certainty.

But his words never left his mouth; they shrivelled and died inside his throat as the pale male in front of him came to a halt. The star-marked boy gave a quiet chuckle at Viserys’ apology, “That’s quite alright,” he assured, his lips curling into a goodnatured, but somewhat sheepish smile, “It happens to the best of us.”

Well, it happened to him, at the very least. His mind was instantly drawn back to the numerous occasions where he had managed to trip over one of his siblings because he had been too focused on something else to notice them- usually the sky, or something that had captured his attention just out of their line of sight. The memories sent a pang of guilt straight through his core. He’d left his family behind without much of a goodbye; unable to tell them where he was going, or if he’d ever be back because he couldn’t even begin to answer those questions. Although his decision to travel had been what he wanted, he found himself longing to know how his family were. To find out if they were worried about him, if they even cared that he was gone…

The stranger spoke again, and suddenly Oort was returned to the present. Well, perhaps he wasn’t a stranger anymore, not entirely; he now had a name that the boy could match to his face. Viserys. He repeated the name a few times in his head, as though dissecting the syllables would somehow help him get his head around it, before speaking again. “I’m Oort- weird name, I know,” He introduced, his banner giving a couple of brief waves, “It’s good to meet you, Viserys. I’m… going to be honest; I wouldn’t have the beginnings of a clue what burdock looks like.”

Oort wasn’t surprised when the conversation turned to where he had come from; if his scent alone hadn’t been enough to give it away, then his aimless wandering undoubtedly would have; he moved with the blatant insecurity of somebody who was utterly lost. “I… don’t have a name to put to it- although I assume it would mean little if I did. It’s a few days travel from here; mostly made up of small wooded territories…” he paused, his dual-toned eyes flashing thoughtfully, “It’s nice enough. Although lately I had been wanting to find somewhere I could look at the stars without having to peer through a bunch of trees.” Oort smiled, and shook his head, “Sorry, I’m rambling; that probably didn’t really answer your question.”
