They all took too long as far as I was concerned, my trail through the field pack made clear so that they could follow and yet honestly I half expected one of them to get lost. Its not that I doubted my assassins, its simply that I doubted there intelligence sometimes, then again they were mostly of my own blood so that was hardly a compliment to myself in reality- my earthen brown features frowning momentarily at my own less than impressive thoughts. I yawned, white teeth flashing in the glow of the moon before I moved to climb easily atop a small border so I could better see across the fields- curious to see who would be the first to arrive. I had extended an invitation to Zelda all the same, assured that it was about time she understood my mission and the mission of those working for me…er…with me. It was important, I think, to foster some belief that they were working with me as opposed to for me, then again, I can’t help the thoughts of my mind can I? I chuckled softly to myself, tail flicking as I continued to wait. Achilles and I had been working well of late, in fact, I was near convinced that most members of the pack thought we disliked each other- or were inclined to argue in the least- that plan working even better then I had anticipated. Orfiel had been out and about and I was sure had found something of use for us. Calliel, honestly, I have no idea what Calliel does with her time though she had been involved with the operations against Zeus and that was something. As for Guardian, he seemed to hear more then most of us. He was well trusted and well respected within the pack and truly that was an easy advantage to exploit- but we needed to branch further and further still and it was that I had come to discuss tonight.
There was so much to be done and so little time, my head filled with each order of business I needed to attend to. It’s hard being a veritable child prodigy of a former Assassin Master and yet I suppose havin surrounded myself with those Heyel had chosen for reasons I sometimes still question had made things easier. They finally begun to show up, one by one, my head nodded to each of them in turn, pleased they had come, my lip quirking slightly upward at their own attempts at disguise. I wasn’t a true fan of dirt, but the dusty brown taint it gave me was necessary just as it had been for most of them. Masks protected us, after all, masks and ambiguity and falsified names. It shouldn’t have to be like this- but I have learned from the mistakes of the past and I would not suffer them again. Covet’s ‘power’ falsified though it was, had come from knowing to much of us and of assassins- the blame could be easily placed regardless as to whether it was deserved or not and I would not allow that again. My assassins would be different, we would be the very shadows if we had too, unnamed and thus protecting those we needed to protect through our own invisibility. Our next step was merely to be more visible. Strange, truly, to be more visible by being invisible and yet there were loners to be had and packs to be grown through that. The more followers Achilles had the better. The pack was strong and stable now, but it could be better.
“I’m glad you all made it- finally.”
The last words was more of a mumble, a tease, though a good-natured one as I moved to focus the violet of my gaze on the gathered wolves.
“I’ve called you all here because there are a few things to bring up and a report to be had. I’ll start.”
My chocolate-coloured tail flicked once more, a smirk touching my features as I made myself comfortable before speaking once more.
“I hear your alliance with this pack is coming along well Achilles, our Asteraia informant tells me you were here, did you manage to spot him? He says you promised him a rabbit hunt.”
I chuckled softly, curious indeed to know if Achilles had realised who and what Lonhro had truly been that day. He was a strange boy, but Fiel had recruited him and I trust my brother’s choice in that.
“I have a wolf in Iromar in mind for our informant there, Taviora is covered and I think I have an idea for Glorall too- that only lives Spirane, does one of you want to make a move on that? I shouldn’t have to do all the work. What else has everyone been up to, what happened with Zeus? Has anyone been making any moves to gather more loners and recruit them to Diveen?”
One eye lifted, curious, waiting for one of them to speak up, surely they had been keeping up with all the events of late.
