aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Rodan was the first to heed her call, and he came to sit next to her, speaking to her. "Indeed, it has, Rodan. I am... Sorry about your uncle. As for why I am alone... That is one answer I would indeed like to know myself." The next varg to come to the table was a stranger - one that Kahlan had never seen before. Still, the Beta smiled at the fae, who in turn introduced herself as Nicci. "I am Kahlan, the Beta of this pack. Nicci, you would be most welcome within this pack's ranks. This is my dear friend, Rodan." Summer had followed her to the pack clearing with her blessing, as he had originally had business with Cai, but it seemed now as though Cai was not returning. "Summer, I will finish discussing all of my business with you at the conclusion of this pack meeting. Please, make yourself comfortable." A pair of wolves followed soon after, one eboness who was named as Chenzii, and her partner, a timber wolf, who was dubbed as Hellene. "Of course, I imagine Kalgalath would like to know if our alliance still stands even though the throne has passed to another? I shall discuss that with you also after I address the pack." Always polite and welcoming, Kahlan addressed each wolf kindly as she knew Moth once would have. As the last wolf arrived and asked to join, Kahlan nodded and smiled once more. "You are welcome to join as well, Nymeria. Welcome ho---"

Kahlan's speech was cut off by an explosion like one she had never heard. Her auds flickered backward and only a moment later, the fae was spinning around to face the mountains in time to see one of the peaks fly off, followed by smoke, steam, and fire. The side of the mountain began to seemingly bleed, and Kahlan should only shake her head in disbelief. "The mountain... It... Erupted!" Kahlan began to slowly walk backward, before turning and calmly addressing all who were present. "It seems that Saw Tooth... Is no longer a safe haven. We must all flee should we wish to keep our lives." Her bright Suns turned to Hellene and Chenzii, questioning them. "Under Moth's reign, we had an alliance with Aurora Borealis, might we find shelter with you?" Hellene nodded, knowing Kalgalath would not hesistate or prevent them from entering. "Good - all of you who belong to Saw Tooth, please follow me to Aurora Borealis. We will figure out what to do there. Summer, if you would please follow us as well - as I believe you have an alliance with Aurora Borealis as well - your pack's assistance may be needed to." With that, Kahlan ushered the wolves out of the pack, ensuring that she was the last to leave. With them ran prey that had once filled Saw Tooth's boundaries - it seemed none were to inhabit Saw Tooth. At the boundary, the ess paused, and turned back, a tear shedding from her orb. "Goodbye, my friends." It was a final fair well to all she had lost there, and without another word she fled.

When finally Kahlan reach Aurora Borealis' borders, she paused outside of them, waiting for her packmates. Never before had she thought that she would be making use of the alliance with Aurora Borealis, and she could only hope that Kalgalath was as gracious as Moth had told her. When all of the wolves arrived, Kahlan looked to Chenzii and Hellene, who had led them. Hellene spoke first. 'You all may come inside and get comfortable. Consider this home for the time being.' Kahlan noticed then, that Hellene had scrapes upon her, and Chenzii had been limping the entire way. How could she not notice such things. When Hellene noticed Kahlan's prying eyes, she smiled. 'Yes, we are injured, but at least we are alive. I... I am sad to report that two of your packmates did not make it. Daenerys was here to learn of some healing from me, and Henadin showed up... And he was struck down also. I am sorry. But that is why we do not question your entrance - we have known loss all too recently as well. Settle now, I will go and fetch Kalgalath.' Hellene left, and Kahlan felt tears welling up in her Suns - both her brother and once of her closest friends were dead. Was all that she knew falling apart? But, she bit her lip and turned to address those who had followed her - she needed to be strong, for them. "You who belonged to Saw Tooth, make yourself known. For it is here that we shall rest, and then decide the fate of our pack, whether we choose a new pack together, or disperse among our allies."
