She continues to watch the sun sink below the horizon, bathed in reds and yellows. With a sigh she closes her eyes, enjoying the warmth of the last dregs of sunshine for the day. Her peace comes to end as she feels as though she is watched. Never one to discount her instincts, her brown eyes fly open. Her instincts don’t seem to feel danger, so she remains where she is. Tail tucked tightly against small paws, she glances behind her.
Another wolf melts out from the darkness. He is quite a bit larger than her own small frame, but even as he walks towards her he seems to lower himself to be less intimidating. Still, her natural instinct is to submit herself. She lowers her shoulders and drops her ears, careful not to make direct eye contact. Despite his non-threatening body language, she cannot help her innate response. Once an omega, always an omega. While she may have been pretty, framed by the setting sun and confident in her loneliness… Her submissive gestures instantly make her unremarkable, a forgettable wolf. The way she has always been.
She is not alarmed by his strange colouring. Her nose tells her that he is real, and he speaks to her as though to reinforce it. He wags his tail and she cannot help but offer a weak wag of her own, hopeful that perhaps she has not wandered into his territory unknowingly.
“Oh… I do hope I am not invading your cave… I can leave if that is the case.” Her small frame stands, ready to leave if he should show any objection to her presence. But he still appears welcoming so she continues on.
“I… I did go in. But it’s just so… dark.” The last word as said softly, embarrassed as she was that the dark intimidated her.
“I am Vaya, by the way.” Another faint, hesitant tail wag.
