The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

She moved through the rocks easily, her inky eyes inquisitive and aware, glancing around at the craggy rocks and yawning cave entrances. It was not often that she found herself alone, and she wasn't quite sure that she liked it anymore. After so long of having a warm body beside her most of the time, it was strange and a bit scary to be completely and utterly alone. Who was there to talk to? Certainly not herself- that would be one of the most boring conversations she could imagine. Even now she was a bit miffed with the quiet and cool early-morning air. Morrigan narrowed her eyes slightly and gave her tail an annoyed little flick. Some time ago she would have relished this time to think, but she couldn't entertain herself the way that others could.

Morrigan needed excitement, adventure, someone to talk to or play with- anything! She could always return to the gypsies but she had found herself far from Taviora, far from her friends who were quickly becoming like family to her. The assassin prowled through the grotto, and paused when she passed by a cave that smelled of something familiar. She backed up, peering into the murky gloom and wondering what it was exactly that she had smelled.

It would not take long for her to figure out, it seemed, as she heard a warning growl from inside as she approached the cave. Morrigan quivered slightly, knowing that she should simply turn tail and run, but something inside of her craved the excitement that battle with her old band had brought to her. "Here, kitty kitty." She said with a grin, and the growl became deeper, rumbling. Perhaps this was the stupidest thing that she had ever done, but it would be exciting, and she knew that she was quick enough to dodge the cat. A cougar, it seemed, had chosen to make it's home in one of the caves, descending from higher altitudes to seek shelter during the winter which had just recently ended.

Morrigan let out a wild series of barks and the cat charged out from the den, muscles rippling under it's tawny pelt. The woman turned and began sprinting through the rocks, dodging this way and that way as the cougar chased her. Soon she spotted another wandering through the crags, and she let out a short bark of warning before yelling, "You'd better start running!"
