Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

the only way to get rid of
temptation is to yield to it
I cannot seem to wipe off this smile of a smirk on my perfectly dark lips. Maybe a girl just needs some attention from a perfectly attractive boy every now and then? Who wouldn't want those big blue eyes looking at them? I feel refreshed right now, enjoying my time away from the swamps and moors of Iromar. It can get dull staying in one place for too long, that is for sure. This boy was also entertaining before, and he sure seems eager to entertain me again. I think I can get used to this.

I only lift my dark brow that exposes more of my blue jewels as he asks for a peek, but I convince him to do a trick simply based on my saying that he will get something in return. Nothing has been specified. For all he knows, his reward will be a fart in the face. I almost want to roll on the ground laughing thinking of how easy this was. I hold myself together though, and my inky black paws carry my flame-hued frame to the riverbank.

I really don't know what the hell he is doing. I stand near the tree, watching this awkward mess of a boy attempt to climb up it. Sure, there are plenty of creatures who can climb trees. Some do it with grace and easy. Others do it with a lot of effort and look dumb. Wolves are the latter. Sure, I have climb a tree that is low to the ground, and I know we are not meant to be tree climbers like squirrels. Watching him actually makes me hold back my laughter- but in the end he actually makes it up the lowest hanging branch.

I find my red tail dipped in darkness actually beginning to wag as my eyes open brightly in excitement as I continue to watch what he has in store with curiosity. I wonder if he actually knows what he is doing or if he is going to fall and break his back- and then what? Is he secret plan to fall out of the tree and then have me care for him at his beck and call? I find my nose wrinkling slightly at the idea as he gets onto a branch over the river.

"Hey, you might want to be...." I say, my voice fading as he goes further out of a limb- literally. I see the way the branch acts, and I feel as if it is about to break. In fact, I hear a crack. I find my legs carrying me forward to the very edge of the bank.

"Don't you go breaking your legs! That thing is about to snap!" I yell out. I find myself going into the river some. It is not super strong where I stand, but it does give a push against me. I step further out, my legs wet as I watch him- wondering what the hell this kid is going to do.

"You going to do a trick or what?" I yell out again, unsure if being a squirrel was his trick or if he had something else in mind.
