This is not okay. This was not supposed to be how things ended up. They were supposed to end up together. For years she had worked with Tobias helped him and tried to teach him to understand. And at times it had seemed to work. Her boy could understand not to attack some, that some fell under safety nets of ‘not food’. She had gotten him to speak to her, whether mimicked phrases or not, she had believed that he understood. Her boys was smart he was capable of so much more. With her own eye she had watched him fight against his inner demons and win, for her. Now her eyes of teal and black stare at the world seeing nothing and everything all at once as she stands with him once again trying to keep the elegiac look from her elegant face; the shield back with her sword, for now at least.
Flare is the first to arrive, the sight of her filling the angels wolf's eyes with disdain as she watches the wolf with her colors approach. Imposter! This one had to be the mate, Aaliyah notes the color palette so similar to her own with the red, white, and black. In her mind she knows why Tobias chose this one. A glimmer of satisfaction burns brightly for a second as the angel wolf allows herself to believe that Flare had been chosen out of a familiarity to her own colors. Whether it was true or not this is what she would believe. A second rate replacement for a lack of the real thing.
The tri colored wolf doesn’t even speak, not that Aaliyah had anything to say to her, but she can't help but note the fact. They’d failed her boy, as did she. From their short time alone together, Aaliyah had already picked up on the raspy tones of Tobias’s voice and the evident lack of use. It had even seemed harder for him to find words than she remembered, although he had always struggled. She wonders if he tried as hard for them as he had for her; or if they’re lack of communication and his desire just hindered him.
The imprint and alpha is next, a dark creature with a demons colors. The masked beauty wonders if Tobias would kill his imprint if he could. Aaliyah knew exactly what the bond was capable of; fate gave Tick Tock a monster on a leash that couldn’t do so much as turn and bite her hand if he wanted to. Did he want to be free of her? If he was.. would he come back to her? Or would her ‘boy’ kill her now for such thoughts against the one fate had tied him to? Eyes of teal and obsidian watch captivated as the alpha greets Tobias, a sick feeling building in her stomach the more they touch. It's all she can do to keep herself calm and not strike out and snap at this woman.
When the dirty peasant wolf, the stealer and jailer of her heart, moves forwards to separate Aaliyah from her Tobias and actually TOUCH her, Aaliyah has had enough. A rumbling begins deep within her chest, she did not allow this, no other but Tobias and family could touch her. Side stepping Aaliyah pulls away before Tick Tock can finish her precession down the length of her alabaster body. “Ubi habitavit nomen meum ego meo sanguine natus, qui non potuerunt non cum rota tertia fabula redigunt ad me. (I belong where I chose, my blood was born for greatness not to play third wheel to those who couldn’t add up to one of me.)” Anger pulls the words from her tongue in her native language delivering them coldly; if it wasn’t for her Tobias might not have been who he was today, capable of understanding not to hurt some packs, or worse he could’ve been dead at Heyels feet. But now she was the outsider. Never before had she followed a wolf besides her father, half of the time she couldn't be bothered to respect border lines. If this mutt she didn't know and didn't like expected her to fall in line and follow commands she had another thing coming.
The only thing that pulls her from her anger is when Tobias utters her name. She wants to stay. She wants to be with him and be what he needs. But not like this. She can’t stay this way. Maybe if she was still his mate, at least came second. But it would be a cold day in hell when she would become third, without even a title, just a mistress at his mate or imprints side, for he had only two. Her dark prince moves to head further into the land and her body freezes. If she follows him so will they, his mate and imprint, and she does not want to be around them. She can’t handle this. Her eyes slip from Tobias, her first love the wolf she would’ve given her very life for, to fall to the ground. Never before has she acted with cowardice, but she never thought Heyel would die or Tobias would replace her.
Chest burning with emotions she pent up for so long, Aaliyah can feel the tears as they threaten to spill. Her mouth opens, wanting to say something to him but she can’t. Her lithe body spins on a dime and she is running the other way. Tears fall in big, fat slow lines as she tries to put distance between herself and the trio. What was she thinking coming here? Why in the hell had she thought she could handle seeing Tobias with them? It was going to either be her or them and the question remained unasked because she already knew the answer. She was his first mate yes, but that time was long ago; he had others now.
