Big paws on a small girl hesitated at the border of the mountain pack. This place was so vastly different from her home it was a challenge for her to grasp it. The mountains were so big, towering over her whereas the moors offered their depths to her gaze. Her breathing hitched in her chest when she realized that she had indeed travelled further than she possibly should have. The places she had been exploring had smelled of other wolves, lingering and mixed. Scents of the world seemed to cover the trails of the common lands. This was different. The mountain air was thick with those who lived there and called this place home. She lingered along the boundary between the Riverside and the mountains. It was not a far run back to the safety of Iromar, but it was not one she would be able to make if she got into some serious trouble. The threat of possible danger did make the small girl hesitate, but it was not enough to drive her away.

Her tail wagged behind her and her green eyes sparked with her fire. Grinning recklessly she continued to pad along the packland border, never stepping in but never really stepping away either. She teased the fates as she had a year ago, seeming to teeter on the line of danger and safety. A soft whisper of a laugh rolled from her lips. If she wasn’t willing to step up and face something new and scary she was never going to learn anything else about the world. Here, this was a place to like but so different from her home, obviously she needed to learn more about it.

Teeth setting in her smile, she flicked her black tipped ears back and scampered into the packland, suddenly determined to follow this trail or that one. What would Big Wolf say when she returned smelling of the mountain air? Possibly tell her to take a bath.
