aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

~I hope you smile when you look down on me~

A serene peace had fallen, the rivers lulling noise had dulled down to a whisper and the wind whispering through the trees had quieted. It was as if time had come to halt and the laws of motion only applied to the ashen girl. Her thickening summer coat was soaked and her skin was twitching from the tingling sensation spreading across her bodice. The icy water swished the tip of her tail back and forth with each icy lap on the shoreline. From a distance and in a different season she might have looked to be enjoying the cool water and relaxing in the warm light, but that was not the case. It was winter, the sun held no warmth and the water was icing over. The ground was frozen and her breathing was ragged with exhaustion. Dying flowers hung limply from her maw, their color faded against the earth as they shriveled and curled up into themselves.

Ashen lids flutters at the sound of her lovers call, it was faint and far away from her conscious. It wasn’t until she felt the pounding of paws into the terra that she began to pull out the black hole of her mind. The vibrations felt as if an earthquake had ruptured the earth and she was bound fall into its death. A soft brush air to the side of her bodice sent a roll of shivers down her spine that racked her body. Her limps attempted to retract towards her bodice but she just twitched her muscles unable to contract fully. Had her lover not found her she would have fallen into hypothermia within the hour.

The stench of blood conjured the hollow gaze of her father under her closed lids, startling Sebring into reality. Her golden suns were wide open in terror but she didn’t recognize anything around her and the sudden grip around her scruff had her submersed back into blackness. The earth mingled into the crusted wounds along her side as Kalgalath brought her into the safety of the den, but it wasn’t until her mottled knight had wrapped her in his embrace that her mind dared to comprehend the living again. A warm sensation repeatedly spread across her back up to her crown, the cold pricks on her skin were being replaced by a familiar sensation. Kalgalath… Kal, I’m s-sorry… Her lyrics were still slurred as her body began to function normally again. Her limbs had begun to gain warmth as the heat that had been centered in her core spread back to her exterior limbs. Her mind was slow to process anything around her but she lifted her crown to touch the underside of her mottled knight’s jaw. Her cranium fell back to his chest, the steady rhythm of his heart beat in her ears. I just didn’t know what to do… she was just so sordid, so… Sebring struggled to think of the word, a sigh escaping her lips. I didn’t want to blame you Kalgalath, I just knew that I would have taken my anger out on you… I just couldn’t… Sebring turned her golden pools to her lover’s icy arctics.

I love you Kalgalath.

"They’re only baby scars," She whispers.
