aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

At long last sinew and skin had begun to stretch across the gaping wound on his shoulder, closing it enough to keep it from his environment. Though the sharp pain of a new wound had faded, he now had the dull throb and stiffness of an injury that would take long to heal. Each day he stretched it gently to prevent loss of his dexterity, despite the pain that it caused him, and trotted the boundary slowly in order to keep up his strength and prevent muscle atrophy. The hair had not yet begun to regrow, and perhaps it never would. The defect had been large and deep...it would no doubt scar to at least some degree, but for now it looked like a terrible burn upon his flesh. A reminder of the intruders that had sought to steal their land and had paid for their treason and intrusion with their lives. For many weeks, the pack members had kept clear from that area of the pack, disheartened by the sight of carnage that was there, so when he was finally healed enough, Kalgalath had dragged the carcasses from the boundary, moving them to where he knew that carrion would find them and pick them clean, disposing of the evidence. Some Alphas liked to keep intruders bodies upon their borders as a warning... But Kalgalath's view on it was that any idiot stupid enough to intrude across a well marked boundary would not heed a dead body anyway.

After the battle, there had been much to deal with. The pack had had to heal, which Hellene had done dutifully and without being asked. Then there was the conversation he had had to have with Sebring... And after argument and emotion and confusion and honesty, at long last Kalgalath once more had a Queen at his side, a mate to help him rule. One who actually cared about the welfare of the pack and the happiness of those living within. Though many had already met her, none knew of her rise in rank, and at any rate, a pack meeting was long overdue. It was time to take stock of those who were still living within the borders of the pack, and to reward those who had been most active within the pack. Often that was the hardest part, for the few who had been with him the longest were always loyal and went through stages of activity and inactivity, but never did any of them disappear completely. Such was the way of life, to come and go, to life and die.

Kalgalath smiled as his large paws tread through the snow, making prints that any could follow easily. His pack was painted in a beautiful coat of it, and though Kalgalath and many of his members now stuck out like sore thumbs against its stark pure ess, especially Chenzii and Magic, there were few who now were ghosts, invisible against the scenery, such as his son. That was another bit of news that would have to be spread - that Aindreas had had pups, for many within the pack had met Aindreas and were friends with him. The brute often walked the grounds of Aurora Borealis, and though it had been a long while since he had last done so, the news of new life was always welcome.

Before he knew it, his body broke through the line of the grove and into the clearing that marked the very center of the pack. Breaking into a gentle lope, he leapt in a graceful arc to land upon the boulder that constituted his throne. It was covered in a thin sheen of ice and he skidded across the top, daggers digging in and stopping his motion. The Titan stood tall and proud, tail erect over his dorsum as his head tilted back, a call demanding the attention of his back escaping from between his kissers. It crooned across the canopies and in between each of the trees, beckoning forth all of his loyal subjects, his mate, and any stray vargs who were upon his borders seeking entrance.
