I sleep cuddled with Thor because he is always so warm. The days had begun to stretch long and I had grown to see my first winter. Honestly, I didn't like it very much. It was much too cold and I had shivered on some nights waiting on my brother and family to get settled. Spring was a welcome relief and I stretched into him, whimpering in my sleep but completely content. That is until I hear my mothers voice. Sometimes I can sleep through them talking because sleep is a thing I love dearly yet the urgency in mommas tone makes me stir. One eye peeks open, then another, and I see mother looking distressed and father getting up quickly. Now both of my eyes snap open wide as I stare at her. They are coming, she says, and I gasp, scrambling to get up and likely knocking Thor's head around in my haste. "Our sisters and brothers!" I exclaim, suddenly excited and scared at the same time, looking up as daddy moves closer and nudges us out, bumping his nose into my hip to get me to pick up the pace.
Haziel, he says, and I stare at him in confusion because I don't know who that is. Not that I knew many wolves, I wasn't as adventurous as my brother was, and I give him a cross eyed look. Yet before I have the chance ot back peddle and figure out where this Haziel might be another wolf appears and I stare at him in surprise and a bit of hesitation. He carries a doeskin bag in his mouth and my eyes fasten to that curiously, my gaze snapping to my father when he demands that daddy move out of the way. Who was he? I suspected a healer as my father followed his directions and I heard him talking to momma.
I was an obedient daughter, always listening and careful not to intrude at times, but this time I can't help it. He is a healer and I had been tasting plants and herbs and learning things about them myself but he could teach me more. And momma, I needed to make sure she was alright and.. were those cries? Did I have siblings? I bolt forward now, ears pressed back and tail tucked because I knew my daddy would probably not want me to go in but this time I would be chided. I slip underneath Hadrian and whisk past him until I am at my mothers face and then my eyes light up. Daughters, Hadrian had said.
"I have sisters!" My soft voice had risen, tail whizzing back and forth as I grin at momma, licking her in the face and then at this strange male. I wanted to dart back to father but I had barely made it in here and getting back out might get me in more trouble. "Sir Hadrian, can you show me what you do? I want to learn." Now my voice had grown more hesitant, unsure if this was the proper time. I perked up when he spoke once more. "Daddy looks like a King?" How curious, I want to see this Asteraian King.
