The Venomous Angel
I had barely finished my work with Natu, Fenrir and the others when the call and scent of Eden saw my ashen form halted in it’s efforts to return to my den, a sigh of sorts drawn from my lips as I grasped my little deerskin bag, a gift from Meryl, and begun to head in the direction of the call. At least in rung with the sounds of victory, although I suppose I had held little doubt. Eden is Angel and Angels hold a truly great skill upon the field of battle, or so it would seem. My tail waved a moment in pleasure at the discovery of his victory before I simply adjusted my path in an effort to find the wolf I had chosen as Alpha, nostrils flaring to pick up upon the thick scent of blood that stained the air like rain after a storm. Apparently Eden had decided to walk, or hobble really, his paw prints not exactly even. Honestly why he didn’t just sit and wait I will never know, my violet and orange eyes rolling lightly once more as I finally discovered him resting in the shade of a tree. I do enjoy sand to be honest, my beachside home perfect for the collection of a variety of ingredients that grow nowhere else and yet sand is the devil itself when it comes to wounds. It gets in, it infects and it irritates- it is also near impossible to wash out.
“Don’t lay in the sand Eden!”
Sand was everywhere here, even up on the grass and within the dens. It clung to pelts and pause and forever seemed to get spread about, my tail flicking in agitation at the mere thought of it as I moved to place my little bag down beside him. I had, to an extent, already come mostly prepared for this outcome, my new formula for packing wounds surely in need of a workout and what better patient to practice on! Of course I saw no need to inform him that he was going to be a test subject and yet I was assured my web-based sealant was better then the one I had produced last year. At worst it would merely hold just as well as the other had, at best it would prove superior thanks to the addition of several secret ingredients. I allowed my ears to fall flat in a momentary gesture of respect for the injured Alpha before moving towards the larger of his wounds, my ball of spider web and tree gum already resting beside me, reaching to apply it to my paws before beginning to work it into his fur and close over the wounds- holding them closed too, due to the sticky effect of such a concoction. Ha. Brilliant. It does work and better then I thought. I may even be able to prevent scaring at this rate.
“Stop moving about, do you need something for the pain or can you manage? I’m sealing the wounds entirely, this is an entirely new method, far above any other pack healer, you should be grateful your Cousin is so brilliant. How did the fight go?”
Honestly I didn’t really care, I merely sought to distract him enough to stop fidgeting about and let me finish. It would be uncomfortable I am sure, though I was being gentle….mostly. I never was all the conventional.
“We need to talk about some tasks for me as well, or a promotion just outright. Natu gave birth while you were away, three healthy girls and I may have found myself an apprentice too, what else do I need to do to rise a little? Someone of my brilliance deserves a higher rank don’t you think?”
I’m not that modest either.
