The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Long had been the time since Halina had left the thin, bedraggled pup to his fate. They had come to an agreement of sorts, in which Lupin was granted access to the pack and given options as to his future. His first option was to live within the borders and have nothing to do Halina. She would not seek him out, and the only communication that they would have would be whenever they happened upon each other in the packlands. His second option had to become her adopted son, a prospect that seemed to not hold too much favor with the pup, his face scrunching up as he went suddenly silent. His third and final option, the one that Halina had assumed he would choose, was to become her protege, her apprentice. She would care for him, as a mother word, perhaps call him son from time to time, but her main role would be as his master, his teacher. Her goal would be to pass on her knowledge of life, with a heavy emphasis on how to not only survive, but also thrive. It was a wonder that the pup had been able to live on his own at all, but he had already taught himself how to catch small prey, just enough to keep him alive. Halina would bring him on her hunts so that he could observe her skills and techniques. She would start to spr with him early on - sure, he would get cuts and scrapes, bumps and bruises, but he would learn early how to evade, which was arguably the more important of the skills... And then eventually he would learn how to fight as well.

Lupin had not picked any of the options - no, instead he had picked a fourth. Lupin had chosen to think about it. He had decided to spend some time in the pack by himself and weigh his options. A few weeks had gone by, without Halina seeing hide nor hair of the pup, and she began to wonder if he had picked the first option. Halina would accept that if that was truly what he had decided - she had, after all, given him these options herself. But truly she had thought that he was going to decide to become either her son, or her protege.

When Halina woke that day, she rubbed against Ygritte, purring in her ear. "I am going for a run, my love. I'll pick up breakfast on the way back." Her tongue escaped to sweep around her aud, smoothing down any stray hairs, before exiting her den. Right before she fully exited, her nares flared and a smile crossed her kissers - there was a familiar musk upon the air. Finally, it seemed, Lupin had come to give her his answer. The eboness cleared her facade of emotion, hiding her excitement. When fully her body exited the den, her dark azures swept down to fall upon the bruteling, tracing his thin brown form. He looked a bit thinner - no doubt because he was growing but was having difficulty keeping up with his food intake. Halina wanted to nuzzle him, to cuddle him... But refrained. "So, Lupin, have you come to a decision?"
