The pup continued to nip and tug at me, there were a few times when I would give in to her pesky antics and give a playful snap of my jaws in her direction. But I remain at my post, lying in front of Samhain while Solstice was persistently tried to get me to chase her. However, other than a few barks and good-hearted growls I was entirely absorbed with Samhain. My head was raised while his still pressed into the earth. The way he looked at me was completely alien; the adoration that filled his eyes as he gazed up with burnt orange orbs permeated me to my center. My memories were blank when I tried to remember a time when another was this keen to me, not even my mother had been this fond of my company. Blue eyes watch as the pup buoyantly gallops around Samhain, her eyes begging for me to give chase when she reaches his other side.

The look of anticipation she gave me convinced me to admit defeat and give her what she wanted. I give a playful growl before raising my hind in the play stance with my tail wagging feverishly in the air. I wait a moment before bolting towards her. I dart around her, letting her catch me whenever she gave chase; I made it easy for her for the most part, but there were moments when she would have to work to get me. After a while I give a soft nip to her hindquarters before running to the opposite side of Samhain. His voice reaches my auds then and I once more lay on the ground with him so as to better converse and because his closeness brought me comfort.

The voice that slips between my lips is warm and reassuring, "No, you are right to be protective of her. I could have easily been someone else.” I give him a comforting smile before lowering my dial to the dirt with his.

My next inquiry seems to shock him, as if the answer was plain to see but alas I was blind to it. An invisible blush, hidden by a layer of fur, rises to my cheeks at his words and my heartbeat quickens in my chest. I giggle with embarrassment, burying my head between my paws for a moment before my blue eyes flicker to meet his gaze. "You are too kind, Samhain. And your daughter deserves nothing less.”
