I know only one of the calls. I remember her well, this Taika, for she was an oddity amongst others even during our brief encounter. She was confident to approach Glorall with the notion of gypsies; she had come with interesting company too and yet, now her company's voice is a stranger's. It makes me weary for I am soon able to find the scent of Spirane in the breeze as I begin my trek towards the borders by the shore. I do not assume that their new leader would seek out treaties so soon and, indeed, the call is absent from any true kindness. In fact, there may even be a hint of agitation in its timbre. For the time being however, I must remain under the impression that a wolf such as Taika would not be so foolish to bring an ill meaning wolf to Glorall's borders. Then again, perhaps she is unaware of how intolerent those within established territories can be.
Perhaps the most curious part of their growing presence is an unknown scent that drifts from the innermost regions of the pack, as if a wolf of Glorall seeks them out and yet, the male's scent is not known to me. It makes my hackles rise along my spine, my eyes sharpening into slits as I take coverage among the bushes and weeds as I begin to approach their position. I know the dunes well and it takes me only moments to find a suitable location above the shoreline below; I am able to watch from here easily, crouched slightly in the sand as Taika shuffles about in it once more. This does not surprise me and yet, her company is curious. She is a large female, content to hold herself without submission and so, I am instantly suspicious of their intent. Perhaps I would have permitted such a thing had the male stranger not strode out of the pack's innards.
It is with his arrival that I surge from my position, moving effortlessly down the dunes with my paws digging in to the sand. My hackles stand tall as my eyes dig into the group, my lips pulled back - I seek to compse myself and yet, there is too much threat in the presence of an absolute stranger who reeks of the shore. Had he snuck in during my time away? What had he been doing?
I move without hesitation, sliding my form in between the group in order to cut him off from the others. I ignore Taika and her companion for the time being, locking eyes with the male with a hoarse growl of warning. I feel my muscles stiffen, my legs rigid as my head swings low defensively.
Perhaps I was wrong about this Spirane leader. Perhaps he has other intentions and perhaps I have found his insurgent in the act of his own escape.
