Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

got a hole in my soul,
growing deeper and deeper,
She had enjoyed her short visit to Asteraia and certainly, she had full intentions to return again. She had decided that before she had even been sure if she liked Lonhro or not; he had been interesting and, by extension, Asteraia had become more interesting too. She found herself curious about what other kinds of wolves had made their home there, particularly when she considered the fact that she had been born there. What would it have been like to have been raised there? Of course, it... bothered her that she'd not be able to get an answer for that question. Instead, she had to settle on what she could actually learn rather than what she could simply imagine or assume. Still, she had other places to visit and other wolves to meet before she returned to Asteraia. She did not want to give the pack the wrong idea, after all; she had neither intention to challenge nor intention to join. She would simply become a presence on their borders from time to time, like a light luring out unsuspecting travelers into the darkness beyond. Would she get Lonhro next time or perhaps another?

She hadn't gone too far from the pack, though, and she had taken up a temporary residency within the forest. It provided good coverage and protected her well and truly from the summer sun; she had also found it to be surprisingly lacking in loners and predators alike. It meant more prey for her to nibble into, taking her time to truly savor the taste and sensation of fresh hare and quail. Really, she hadn't any regrets when it came to having left her mother and siblings behind. She had learnt more by herself than she had ever learnt at the teat or as a mere child basking on the shores.

Of course, she was still young and disasterously prone to boredom. In fact, she had found herself so bored that she had tested her luck on a growing fawn. It had served as a good prey to chase and yet, she hadn't been able to even nip its leg as it darted through the forest, much more fleetfooted and determined than she. It had simply resulted in her fumbling through a thicket, its barbs slashing her fur and pulling at the skin of her legs. Faint as it might have been, she stopped when she had been able to smell her own blood. It barely stung and yet, she had glanced down to her pale limbs to see several pink stained splotches. With a sigh, she had to resign to the fact that her fun had been ended. The fawn had escaped and she didn't feel like pulling burrs from her fur for the next several days if she continued.

As the sun began to sink into the late afternoon, the forest had become quiet once more, cool breezes rolling through from the east. She had taken it upon herself to find a rather good viewpoint perched atop the highest end of a fallen log. She lay with her legs dangling, prying at the tiny cuts from time to time with mild interest. And then, an idea had struck her with a flicker of her ear and a quiet, short giggle to herself. The scent had to be faint still and yet, wolves had an exceptional sense of smell, no? And with that, she let out a sound of distress; a short burst of a howl, shrill and starting as it practically shook the leaves above. Of course, she hadn't an ounce of distress within her and yet, she had grown curious to see what kind of wolf might come to the aid of some lost child.
