Abel had a calming effect on Inanna. While Zeus had been around she felt safe, like things could not hurt her, but when someone from her home had come back into her life she finally felt whole again. It was a feeling as though was truly safe and found. Seeing Abel in front of her she was confident she was going to be back with her family, those who cared for her and loved her. In his embrace she settled and smiled at him, calming her movements to a furious wagging tail as opposed to a wiggling body.
His question had her looked at the ground guiltily. She had been here for the majority of the time, but wandered away occasionally in her attempts to try to find her way back home. “I went to the crags for a little while, but it was colder there than in this cave.” She did not mention there had been a big wolf who would come and visit her, take care of her at times, or that he had gone missing. Something in the back of her mind warned her that strangers around her would only worry her friend more. From the look on his face the last thing Abel needed was more to worry about.
Face fell in mutual worry when he licked her head. A soft whine came from her throat. She touched him gently with her nose, looking up at him with pleading eyes. “The winter was hard! And you are the one who came to find me! Not only that, but you are the one who did find me! You are a hero!” She nudged him gently towards the mouth of the cave. “Do you know the way home?” That was where she had failed. In the chase she had gotten so turned around and lost in the scents of the world around her she could not figure out where to go. But now with her friend by her side she felt her confidence grow within her, devouring her constant hunger even as her mouth started to water at the prospect of seafood.
