Technically, the glass is always full
Watching the look of horror cross Dragonfly's face as she dodged the jumping fish brought Frito to his knees. He literally rolled, belly up, in an eruption of laughter. There was something quite charming about Dragonfly. Not to mention her silvery white pelt, which was Frito's favorite color. Standing there on the smooth stone above the cool, rippling pool... to him she looked like a goddess. When he finally gained control of his amusement, he popped up, jumped to her side, and swiped his long pink tongue up her cheek in a supportive show of friendship. He may have been disappointed about losing the biggest catch of his life just a few minutes before, but his angst melted quickly into delight. He barked happily, trying to stifle a new eruption of laughter, "Almost had him! Next time just put your face in the way."
His eyes sparkled as he teased her, but he got the impression she would be a quick learner. In fact, she was confident beforehand he thought she had already caught tons of fish. It wasn't long before another silvery treat leaped from the dark pool. As it jumped, droplets of water sprayed up, but that was hardly a distraction. Frito practically screamed, "Grab him!" His eyes were wide and wily as he tracked it flying through the air. Adrenaline and joy pulsed through his body with every pump of his racing heart. The moment moved in slow motion, and all sound seemed to drown out. Every slow motion wag of his tail, the fish flew closer and closer to Dragonfly's open jaws. If she caught this fish - and it was a good sized one - they would need to celebrate.
