aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

An inexplicable coldness had spread over the onyx swirled prince. The warmth and security that had once encompassed his figure along with his brother had pushed them away. The walls had contracted and pushed them out into frigid air and cold, hard floors. He couldn’t seem to understand why they had been forced away from their comforts and home, but it was not until the safety blanket of his mothers kisses covered his body and allowed him to breathe that he understood. Every object remained unseen, and every scent remained nameless but it was incredible. Each breath brought in a new smell, nameless but new and all the more interesting. And for weeks after his birth Castiel remained blind and deaf to the world, but the boy couldn’t wait for the day that these mysterious things would come into view. And for the time being he was content to awake, feast, and proceed to sleep once more. And every once and a while he would be lifted from the ground, his control would be erased as his mother moved him from place to place. Likewise his father would move him about if she was asleep. But most of the comfort he retained was felt when he could feel the warmth of his brother pressing against him. His scent was the third most prominent, and the one he knew the best. In the spare moments he had spent awake he would try to name what he smelled, but most was gibberish. Baby-talk as it were.

As the time passed ashen lids began to lift and the world slowly formed, taking shape in blurred objects at first. And slowly over the weeks following they shaped into defined object with edges, ridges, points and bevels only to name a few. And in that same time frame the world was audible. The chirps of morning larks would awake him with the rise of dawn, and the coos of doves would lull him to sleep in the evening. All under the auspices of his mother and father and the occasional time they managed to escape their grasp and skitter to the edge of the den and see the outside they would be pulled back into the dim light of the den and scolded. It was not time yet, they were not ready. Castiel had voice his complaints many a time, but his mother and father held steady with their terms, but the day was fast approaching when they would finally be able to escape the confines of their den. And the bounds of pack would be their home now, and to Cas that seemed immeasurable.

The soft coos and chirps in the dawn had awoken the little ashen, onyx splashed child. He had lain next to his brother tossing and turning, the excitement in his little body could hardly be contained! A soft whine pulled itself from Vladimir’s maw and Cas laughed quietly, finally! Come on Castiel! Wake up wake up wake up! Vlad pushed his cold nose into Cas’ back and the pup groaned playfully but flipped around quickly arriving to his paws, Today’s the day! The sun us shining! Let’s go let’s go let’s go! Cas leapt up onto Sebring ribs and she groaned audibly. She mumbled something about the boys being rowdy, but his father’s lyrics overpowered anything she had said. Keep it down, son, some of us were hoping to sleep in today. But give us a kiss before you leave, and remember—stay within the packlands. Both boys smiled simultaneously, Cas turned to his mother and placed a small kiss on her crown before hoping over to his father. The boys had traded spots quickly and traded kisses with the opposing parent. Castiel took a leap of faith from his father to the ground and went tumbling into Vlad. They said their goodbyes and watched as their father encompassed Sebring and fell back to sleep immediately. Come on, Cas! Last one out is a rotten egg!

Cas pulled himself up to his paws and chased after his brother, laughing all the way. Ashen lids closed and his jumped through the den entrance past his brother, his little figure tumbling yet again just out of reach from his brother. Like his brother Cas struggled to get his golden pools to adjust to the bright light and as the world focused around him a gasp left his maw. His jaw would have hit the ground if it was possible. There’s so much Vlad! But Vlad had already taken flight, his little mottled figure went bouncing away through the spring grass. Castiel jumped up and speed up to catch his brother, his paws tripping him every so often until he caught up. What should we do now?
