A Promise Was Made

He found the ground cold upon his feet, but still the hardness at least granted him good enough purchase that he was not slipping and sliding all around. And so he began to trot, asking muscles that had been dormant to stretch out, asking limbs that had been still to move. It was soreness and stiffness that quickly came upon him, but still he pushed himself, enjoying the freedom. The forest, albeit dark, was alive. All around him was green, a wonderful contrast to the Browns and dirts that he had become accustomed to. His pace was slow, but even with that he was surprised when an adult overcame his trot at a walk of her own. Lavenders stared straight ahead, his head not turning until she spoke, and only then did he stop to face her, gaze wavering until it fell upon her. Her russet pelt was like fire in comparison to his own, offering her more camouflage in this spring than his snow, and it was cold mud that met his bright lilacs, pools which spoke to the life within him. 'What's a pup like you wandering these dark forests all alone?' Drizzt offered her a brief smile and dipped his head in greeting - she was his elder and thus, his mother had taught him, his better. She deserved respect, and ever the gentleman, he would give them to her.
"Hello miss, I do remember meeting you at the meeting but alas I must admit to my penance that I cannot remember your name. My own given to me by my mother is Drizzt. I am exploring the pack to which I belong to as my..." Here the bruteling paused, catching his tongue before he did her the disservice of speaking ill of her to a stranger, or rather at all. "Mother has been busy with duties and I wish to stay out of her way so as not to be a nuisance. I wished only to see what the lands here offered so that I could accustom myself with its paths and trails. Should I have asked for an accompaniment? I find that I do not know much about pack life - the beginning of my own was spent outside of borders as Mother and Father are from different territories." The pup remained standing, but his gaze never fully met her gaze, not wishing to be disrespectful, so instead he stared at her nape. Naturally his gaze had sought to seek hers out, but staring was something that his mother had beaten out of him, so to speak.
At the sound of approaching footfalls, his gaze swung sideways, searching out for the sound and they landed upon the pads of another femme, this one he did not know at all by sight or smell. She approached them and stared blindly in their direction, which intrigued Drizzt greatly. Would it still be rude to stare to catch her gaze if her gaze was one that could not catch his in return? Or was that yet another social faux pas he would have to learn - that staring at those with deformities was also rude. He did not mean to stare, but she was so different, so intriguing!
This stranger who so captured the pup's attention spoke finally, addressing both vargs at once. 'Hello, And greetings miss.' Drizzt started to dip his head, but then paused, realizing again that she could not see him, could not see the action of respect that he was about to allot to her. "Hello to you, miss. My name as I have just told this lady here is Drizzt. What, may I ask, is yours?" He backed away from them slightly so that he could keep both of them within his sights. He knew that where he lived was dangerous, and he knew neither of these faes. Perhaps they meant him harm, but neither of them had attacked him from behind as they easily could have.
