During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

Anger was boiling through her veins, making her blood hot and thick. She could feel it coursing through every part of her, urging her to lash out and strike at anything that was nearby. She did not care what it was, who it was, just that her anger could be taken out on something. Growls came from her throat, directed to both males in front of her. Her father and this Horizon who she had just met. How dare they think that they could chose who she would end up with, as if she didn’t have feelings of her own. Was this how her father was repaying her for all the loyalty and faithfulness she had given him? For never questioning his orders before, following everything exactly as he asked. And now, he was trying to push her off on some other male. Well she didn’t need either of them to look after her or protect her. Shasta only knew a little of the grandfather that Akuji mentioned, but she knew that she was more than capable of looking after herself. All that she knew she had learned from her father, and she knew that he had trained her to be able to be safe and well, so why did he now think that she needed someone else to protect her? What would Horizon do that she could not do herself? Chocolate brown orbs, identical to her father’s, burned with anger, shifting from one kalak to the other.

If Shasta was not so angry then Akuji’s words would have stung more, but she let them wash over her, not touching any more than the surface. She did not care if he left her, she was an adult now and could look after herself, did not need her father to look after her. She was not a pup anymore, though Akuji may think that trying to pawn her off. Venom of her own spew from her mouth, attacking her father as he had just done to her. She even found herself defending Horizon. Akuji did not need to go after him the way he was, even if he had foolishly taken part in this scheme. The added words were not necessary. Whatever had happened with Farant and Horizon could not have been good, and Shasta was sure that they were not memories that the kalak would want to deal with. The more that she was there, it seemed that Horizon may not have wanted what Akuji did. Maybe he was being honest that he only had wanted to befriend her. But she could not be sure. She was still too pissed off to try and figure it out. As her father stormed off and Shasta tried to even her breathing, she turned to the side, licking at her shoulder to try and calm down the hairs that were still on end. After a few moments her breathing was relaxed again and she was feeling more normal. Now that the other kalak was gone she could think better. She needed to figure out what had really happened here.

When her chocolate portals looked back to the male, she saw that his own gaze was darting around, not looking at her. Shasta spoke up then, needing to know what had really gone on between him and her father. “I came to Blossom Forest for a new start. Or at least as good as one could get. I’ve befriended only one wolf in this land and that would be Lady Ameira. Residing Alphess of Munashii Gekko. Shasta, my basis for meeting you was under the understanding that I would have a chance to meet you and befriend you. That was all I could have hoped for, I obviously misunderstood Akuji. I’m sorry to have dragged you into this…” She nodded her head in understanding, actually believing his words. He seemed honest, and it was clear that Akuji was not happy with Horizon which made her more inclined to believe his words. He stood up then, shaking out his own pelt. Shasta had remained standing, shifting her paws occasionally, too antsy to sit down. “I’m not sure of how to make any of this up to you, but if you would like I can take through Munashii maybe allow you a break before you return to Cold Summers.” He gave her a smile, and she found herself returning it. Maybe he wasn’t as bad as he had initially seemed.

”Yes, I could use a break from Cold Summers. Especially after what just happened. I am in no rush to run back home to where my father is.” She took a step towards him, waiting for Horizon to lead the way. The pair walked on in silence for a few minutes before he spoke up once more. “There’s a stream just inside the border if you’re thirsty or anything…” Shasta once more nodded, her large black tipped ears following the motions. ”Sure that would be nice.” She waited for him to take her to this stream before padding to it, dipping her head down to take a drink. She had not realized how thirsty she was until she felt the cool water go down her throat. It was probably due to all the yelling that she had done at both Akuji and Horizon. She now felt a little guilty that she had lashed out at him when he had had no part in her father’s schemes. ”I am sorry I yelled at you without finding out your side of the story. I never thought my father would do something like this.” Her eyes looked around, taking in the sites of the new territory she had not been in before. It didn’t look much different than Cold Summrs, but the scents were different with the perfumes of the other wolves. ”So, how do you like this pack?”
