"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

This Broken-Down Fantasy

She had followed her mother to an fro. They had gone to the island with the Prairie, they had returned. Faithful, loyal, and obedient, Adelheid had been by her mother’s side the whole time. It seemed as though she were nothing but a shadow. Black as night with only her two white patches and her sapphire blue eyes to light the darkness. Even they could not brighten her thoughts. Dutiful and silent, she had watched her mother leave and had followed her, keeping her silent distance.

A distance away, she had quietly played guard over where her mother labored. Two years old now, she had grown into her body. Slick and sleek, her black pelt seemed to slimmer just so in the starlight. She was no warrior, but she could at least keep a protective eye over her mother. The sounds that filled her ears scared her and she worried for the mare that had given her life. She knew there was nothing she could do but keep her distance. Always keep her distance, but never go too far. Her resolve hardened when the labored breathing turned more subtle and measured. At last she stepped forward, out of the night and into the space her mother shared with her new brother.

Feathering hooves crunched against the dried pine needles. First she looked over the colt that stood by her mother’s side. Adelheid wondered what fate would befall this child. He was not destined to stay in the Peak. He would be forced to leave just as she wished to flee it. Next her cooling eyes looked up to her mother, wordless as always until she chose to speak.

“I am leaving.” She said simply, her voice oddly bitter. “I want to find Jetta. I want to get off this island.” Long tail swished and she turned to go. In her heart she hoped she would see her mother again soon, though the bitterness tried to convince her otherwise.

I hope he is a dreamer. She sent the silent prayer to the sky, hoping the stars would hear her wish for her brother.
