aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The Alphess watched the small bruteling, her gentle smile never wavering. She was more than overjoyed to have found a friend in Tarly, but more than that she was glad to show him that the world was not as scary as it seemed. It had taken her more than her fair of years to overcome her fears and still now she faced a few of them. Fire and water. One had ripped away everything that had been her life and the over had almost drowned away what little life she had left in her. Kalgalath had saved the remaining shred of sanity and soul she had left and now she was passing on her love of learning and living to Tarly, in a way. She was showing him the beauty that shrouded them constantly. She wanted the little grey lad to know that the shadows were not out to get him, that the brambles were nothing but mothers earths comb from their fur. She felt the dig of the plant against her bodice, but it did not reach to her skin. It mingled into her luscious coat and pulled away the tangles as she passed through all the way. Tarly had waited patiently for her on the other side and seemed surprised when Sebring asked him to lead their excursion. She realized the child probably did not know where they were let alone which way to go, but she did not renege on her question. She smiled and began to lead in the direction which he chose.

To both of their surprise the little lad spoke up first and she replied with an answer that in hindsight was probably more complicated than he had expected. Sebring smiled hoping that she hadn’t completely stumped the child. She tried to make her answer a tad bit more simple, but it was hard to ignore the bigger picture for Sebring. That was how she had made it through the rough patches in her life. The ashen lady had spent days and days dreaming of time when she would find happiness, love and home - place where she would feel accepted and Aurora Borealis was perfect. She had fallen in love not only with its ruler Kalgalath, but its inhabitants like Hellene and her daughter Khaleesi. Tarly was now amongst the list of members that she knew personally and she was glad to have gained his friendship. I…I’m not sure. I don’t really know the pack. I just know Magic…and you. Sebring smiled a little wider, happy to know that he thought something of their companionship. There’s nothing wrong with that. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you to get to know other wolves and discover the world. Just take it one step at a time, we’ll all get where we going eventually.

Sebring watched as Tarly sniffed at the air, she scented the air herself. Already having picked out the unknown destination she made no mention of it to the little lad. It would be easier to remember the place if he picked out features of the land that made sense to him and that he would remember. Sebring paused at the crest of the sandy beach watching as Tarly snuck forward to the water’s edge. his onyx striped crown turned to face her and Sebring started in motion once more padding down into the lapping waves. She spoke up as Tarly took a drink of water, I think this would be a good spot to end the evening, wouldn’t you Tarly? The ashen Queen tilted her head towards the sinking sun. Rings of reds, pinks and fading azures encircled the lowering ball of fire, their little journey had consumed more of the day than one would have expected. But how fast was a pregnant ess and young teen expected to travel? Not fast apparently. Sebring’s tail dipped into the surface of the lake and swished back and forth happily. Care to watch the sunset with me? Sebring smiled down at the pup, I can take you back home, to Magic, afterwards. The Queen padded slightly away from the water and sat down. Her ashy plume wrapped up around her paws, a smile etched delicately across her features. She forgot how much she had enjoyed the view from the lakeside.
