aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

No one had ever asked Seraphina if she’d wanted to be the heir. It was just one of those things that everyone seemed to know before her. The princess had been even younger than she was now when Dante’s rightful title had been passed to her for reasons still unknown to the little one. The more she grew, the more she felt that her sister was far more suited for the role. The ethiopian queen seemed to have an innate authority and a talent for diplomacy. Her words were spellbinding, ones that Sera thought could convince anyone of anything. An air of elegance appeared to follow Dante. That was the fiery girl’s role model. She was nothing like her sister in mannerism, much to her disappointment. Mireille always said that they would develop in time, that they would grow with her. But Sera didn’t have the patience to wait that long. She wanted desperately to grow faster so that she could grow into a real lady. So that she could be like Dante. The lass didn’t know that Dante’s life was not one she would enjoy leading. She knew nothing of what the queen had been through.

“It is a twist of want and need that you know naught of anything, but for the truth to be told time would need to be at our dispense. But know this Seraphina, when we have taken root in Bright Moon and our bloodline is once more secured I will be more than ready to explain the entirety of what you do not know.” The firebird let out a small whine. That was a long time to wait. “But only when the dust has settled will you be able to see and understand wholly what part you play.” Sera wanted to understand now. She didn’t want to be kept in the dark as she so often was. Many, like Dante, envied her innocence, but all she wanted was to be rid of it. She wanted to know all that was kept from her, even if it was dark.

“I don’t want to wait that long.” She whispered, not really meaning to say it outloud. The copper princess’ emeralds quickly shot to the gray puff making his rather odd entrance. Seraphina could tell what effect he was going for - she herself had certainly done something similar before - but that didn’t make it any less humorous to look at. A smile crept onto her visage and she bit down on the insides of her kissers in an attempt not to laugh. That would be rude. “I am Vladimir, Prince of Aurora Borealis. Who are you and what do you want with our pack.” His little chest puffed out, trying to seem bigger than he was. Sera rolled her eyes. Though his antics were quite ridiculous to her now, she would see them differently one day.

Though the firebird had managed to keep from laughing, someone else’s audible snort alerted her to his arrival. “And I’m Castiel, brother to Vladimir and second Prince of Aurora Borealis. What brings you to our borders?” A brief flash of jealousy shot through Seraphina. She adored Dante to pieces of course, but Dante was much older than her. She imagined it was great fun having a sibling the same age as you. At any rate, this pup didn’t look like he was trying to be anything he wasn’t and kept a smile on his face. This Castiel was clearly the more relaxed and fun of the two. Dante answered his inquiry as to their relationship and Sera nodded sharply, looking at the princes with a message of “That’s right: she’s my sister.” Yet another gray figure emerged from the woods, Identifying herself as Sebring, the Alphess and mother of Vladimir and Castiel. She too posed a question about sisters’ purpose at the borders and Sera looked at Dante, assuming she would be the one to tell them since it was her idea.

The final family member arrived soon after Sebring. This one was Kalgalath, the Alpha. He didn’t ask the question again, most likely not seeing a point as Dante was about to answer it anyway. Sera plopped her rump down to study the group in front of her in more detail, letting Dante take the wheel. “I am Dante, of the bloodline Inferno, I have come to your borders in search of a safe haven, though not for myself.” She means me. Seraphina didn’t say anything as it would be rude and she didn’t think Dante would be particularly pleased with her, but she made a brief pout at the floor, though it disappeared as soon she felt the queen gently brush against her crown. Dante’s words flowed like water, rising and falling like waves, in her poetic way of putting everything. The ethiopianess concluded in a whispered, “She is the last of my living family…” Sera tilted her head back so she could see Dante, placing a petite paw on top of Dante’s. It didn’t seem right that she had to stay here while Dante went off to be amazing and fight bears. They were a family; surely that meant that sticking together was the right thing to do, wasn’t it?
