aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

wolf

The raven colored female watched on as more and more vargs came to Kalgalath’s call. Kalgalth greeted Tarly and Khaleesi as they entered and the younger brute seemed to flinch at the words. "Hello Khaleesi, Tarly. I am glad to see both of you. How are your studies coming along, Khaleesi?" The white femme smiled up to Kal, her plume wagging behind her. ”They’re great! Mom is teaching me a lot and I have my own garden now too!” The healer was the next to join the group, going to her daughter’s side to greet her, and the snow white female eagerly rubbed along her mother’s pelt in return. When Hellene tried to do the same to Tarly, the brute who had grown from the last pack meeting, still shrank away, as if he thought the female would hurt him. Even though Hellene was not always the most friendly, she was a nice femme and had never done anything to give the impress that she would hurt another being, especially a young one as Tarly still was. When she came over to greet Chenzii, the femme forced a smile to her features, hiding the pain that she felt at the loss of her best friend. She told the alpha that she had news for him, but would wait for the others to join them, and she then moved to Khaleesi side who beamed up at her mother. Even though the white femme was an adult now, it was clear that she still looked up to the female that had adopted her.

The young of Kalgalath and Sebring came into the clearing with another young ess. Chenzii had not personally met Vladmir or Castiel, but she knew their names at least. The third in the trio she did not know. The faeling greeted Kal as if she knew him, so perhaps it was a friend of theirs. Regardless, she smiled in greeting. One of the pups then went to each wolf that was there, asking their name. When he came to Chenzii she was still unsure if he was Castiel of Vladmir. ”Hello, my name is Chenzii. You must be one of Kalgalath and Sebrings’, right? What is your name?” For once her smile was genuine as she had always enjoyed the company of pups. As he approached Khaleesi, her plume wagged behind her, a beaming smile on her kissers. ”Hello little one. I’m Khaleesi, it’s nice to meet you!” The younger female seemed to notice how uncomfortable Tarly still seemed to be, even around the younger vargs. His form was still cowering to the ground, pale grey orbs looking around frantically as if he would be attacked any moment. With a nod of her head to the teen she introduced him as well. ”And this is Tarly.” Khaleesi did not say anything about him, but maybe that was because she still barely knew the brute.

A familiar face entered the group, and Chenzii remembered this male to be Jorah, a recent newcomer. He approached Kal, apologizing for his loss and making mention of his father. With his last words though, the beta stiffened, unsure of whether or not Jorah meant the words to be questioning of Kalgalath’s abilities. "I look forward to seeing whether you are as good of a leader as your father." ”Do not worry Jorah. Kalgalath and Sebring are the best leaders that any pack has ever seen. I ensure you he is as good, if not a better leader than his father was. You are in good paws here.” She knew that Kal did not need her to defend him, he was plenty good at that on his own, but he was more than her alpha, he was her best friend. Another male joined the group, one that Chenzii did not know the name of, and she paid close attention to him, trying to catch his name in conversation. The group was then joined by their alphess, Sebring. Chenzii smiled in greeting to the queen, dipping her head in respect when she walked by. She noticed that Khaleesi did the same gesture as well. But the most interesting reaction was Tarly’s. The male seemed happier, calmer, when the female entered. The brute stood, his grey orbs watching her moves, and seemed to be debating with himself. He stepped forward a bit, and then paused before suddenly rushing over to her, as if he needed the speed to convince himself to do it. His head pushed into her side, a whine escaping the young boy’s throat. Sebring had been the only friend he had made, and now that his mother was gone he felt entirely alone. But maybe he didn’t have to be with Sebring here. But being so close to the alpha seemed to make him nervous, even though Kal was the nicest brute that Chenzii knew.

The last to join before Kal began the formalities, was Rift. She had been around in the pack for a while, but was always quiet and remained in the background. Chenzii still gave her a smile in greeting when she arrived even though the two did not have a personal relationship. The raven colored femme, Khaleesi, and Tarly all paid attention while Kalgalath and Hellene informed the group of their alliances with Spring Grounds and Bright Moon and the updates on their packs. And then the talk of ranks and careers came about. Khaleesi had been promoted to a Keeper to Hellene, and Chenzii smiled in congratulations to her. Khaleesi’s smile opened up even more and her plume wagged behind her. Kalgalath, Hellene, Jorah, Vladmir, and Rift all went ahead and said their ranks and careers with the pack before two newcomers came in. One introduced themselves to be Abbot, but the other did not introduce themselves yet.

Chenzii listened as to the others before speaking up. Normally the female would want to be with the warriors, but now that she had a permanent limp from a leg injury that had been difficult to heal, even for Hellene, she knew that her fighting skills would be limited now. ”My name is Chenzii and I am the Beta. I would like to be an Advisor and to keep my position as Spring Grounds Liason.” Khaleesi’s white form then stood as well, speaking loudly for the group. ”I’m Khaleesi and hold the rank of Epsilon. I don’t care what my rank is, I just want to be a great healer like my mom.” She paused for a moment as she smiled up to Hellene before continuing, ”And I want to learn to be a warrior too.” With what seemed like a lot of effort, Tarly then forced himself to speak, though Chenzii had to strain to hear him. ”M’name’s Tarly. I…I wanna learn how to hunt…and maybe be a spy…I…don’t…” The young brute quickly backed up, trying to get close to Sebring again, cutting himself off and not speaking again. The male was still too young to have a rank, but hopefully his confidence would grow as he did and he could hold a rank in the future.

"We were never meant to last," She whispers.
