During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

The alpha’s pair of emerald optics never left the she-wolfs face as she spoke of having been absent from the territory for a short time. She did not disclose the exact reason she had been gone and unless she offered, Titan didn’t plan to ask. The vibe between the two monarchs was definitely a little off. She hadn’t felt the need to give him a heads up that she would be gone and in all honesty Blood Titan had not realized she was anywhere else. The ivory femme assured him that matters were settled and he gave a small nod in acknowledgement of that.

“That’s great to hear. You haven’t been missing much here. I would say I’ve kept an eye on things, you know, if there had been anything to keep an eye on.

He chuckled a little at his facetious remark. The pack really did seem to have gone to sleep ever since their meeting. Perhaps now that they found time to talk they could plan an event or two to wake everyone up and bring the pack together again. Like… like… like what? Group activities. Right. Other than hunting, activities with a group had never been a priority for him. He had never really been the type to attend social gatherings that were there just for the sake of being social. The demonican canine had never seen the value in such affairs. He understood it now. The bond between packmates was the glue that held the pack together. And a unified pack was a strong pack. It was a pack that survived. It wasn’t something tangible or visible but it could be felt. These social events seemed like a waste of time because nothing tangible or visible was produced as proof that the time spent paid off. Instead it was something behind the scenes in the subconscious of the pack that would benefit everyone over time.

Titan understanding the purpose of having everyone gather and build relationships was one thing. Actually knowing how to go about this? Or what kind of events to plan? That was an entirely different sort of hurdle to attempt. The autumn was treating them to gorgeous days that were sometimes a little warm and sometimes a little crisp, but most often settled in a comfortable middle. Probably too cold to go for a group swim either way though. A hiking trip through Sacred Stones or maybe a scavenger hunt around the caverns? Splitting the pack up into small groups to compete in some way like catching the most fish or finding the most leaves a certain color could be fun for the group. Although in Titan’s youth the idea of competition had been used in very destructive ways, he knew that friendly competition was a great way to build comradery. His attention shifted back towards his ivory companion as she began telling him about a new member. He was surprised he had missed the newcomer on the border but it was likely opposite of the way he had just come from. His thick banner swished momentarily along the ground behind him. New members were great news indeed. Ameira closed by asking what news he had of Horizon.

“Hm… well perhaps a new member is a cue to get the gang together. I feel we’ve given them time to adjust. After all, my leadership hasn’t caused the pack to burn to the ground yet.” He smiled, again bringing forward that facetious tone of his. “Horizon and I had a one-on-one meeting directly following the pack meeting. He is very interested in the role of the pack’s gamma. He said he already has experience tending to our borders and knowing what I do about him from how you’ve spoken, I am pleased that he’s seeking out that rank. The final part of the audition is to recruit a new member to the pack. I told him there isn’t a time limit but I haven’t seen him around since our meeting so he may be off finding someone to bring home now.”

"And your mate? Have you had any word from her?"

The question caught him by surprise. He had been thinking about Akina a lot lately, of course nothing new about that. He had not expected her to bring it up, although he supposed that was fair since his mate arriving would mean once again adjusting the dynamic within the pack. It was a situation he still wasn’t sure how to handle and the very paper-thin silver lining of her not yet arriving was probably that they would never have to figure out the complexities that the situation would present. He looked down at his paws.

“Uh, well, no actually.” He admitted, speaking at a slightly slower pace than usual. He looked back up and met his eyes with hers once more. “At this point I think it’s safe to say we shouldn’t be planning on her arrival. Our separation was amicable and any resolution was up in the air. I know her as well as I know my own soul. We’ve been together since we were teenagers. And I know if she had wanted to come back she would have been here by now. One day she may come back but I think I have my answer for this season of our lives, at least.”

Titan was getting into a habit of oversharing with his new pack members. It wasn’t exactly an accident though. Some things certainly would remain private for a long time to come, but a wolf with as many secrets as Titan had locked away could afford a little transparency now and again. Especially in these days when he was trying to build relationships with those in the pack. Building relationships started with providing a foundation of trust. It was outside of his comfort zone and the nervous energy caused him to fidget and shift his position a little more when he spoke. His smile was small and very honest. He could not quite hide the grief in his voice over the subject but he wasn’t upset that she had asked.

“Thank you for asking, though. If she ever does come back around I know you two would hit it off. She’s really got the most beautiful heart for others...”

This time as he spoke the grief had been replaced with something akin to admiration. He cut himself off though, realizing it was maybe awkward to carry on about his absentee ex-mate. Ex? Or separated but still mates? He hated labels… sometimes things just didn’t fit an exact definition. However, as long as he still loved her the same as he always had he supposed he would still consider her his mate. It’s not like there was anyone else that needed to be in that position.
